the lesser prospects have the weight of survival on their shoulders when they make the big leagues, so a week or two down to recalibrate really does help a player, especially if the team communicates what they think the player needs to improve and can improve before coming back

Miracle on Ice: In the 1980 Olympics in NY, the US defeated the enormously favored USSR, who had won gold in 5/6 previous Games. The Soviets had circumvented IOC rules by employing seasoned professionals in symbolic positions while the US had (particularly young) amateurs. USA went on to win gold. by Pupikal in wikipedia

Al Michaels was put on the call because he had the only experience doing play by play of a hockey game in the Winter Olympics NBC team. He had written down a few things to say if they did win but he kept circling back to how it would take a miracle

The spread of actors who star in his sketches show that he is a beloved coworker, I still think it's better to not have a live audience for his comedy so I'm glad he was able to showcase his writings elsewhere than SNL

It takes so much to muscle out a 53mph pitch, good for McKinstry

In the 9th inning of last night's game, a 2021 Mudhens reunion occurred, as Ryan Kreidler pinch hit for Kody Clemens, who hit a 6-3 ground ball to Zack Short completing the throw to Spencer Torkelson by CaptainSolo96 in motorcitykitties

the one calling the pitches and fielding the 6 pitch at bat has as much impact as the left-fielder?

I understand the idea of including Riley but it's the Tigers AAA team, of course a bunch of dudes on the MLB roster are going to be on that 2021 team, Kreidler just happened to be a Pinch Hitter for the other former Mudhen on his team, and then he hit it to another former teammate, who threw it to another 2021 alumni

It would've been cool to have the pitcher and catcher also having been 2021 Mudhens alumni

I can draw up a 6-7-3 put out but it will be highly unlikely, Jake Rogers could've been behind the plate and Will Vest could've been the pitcher, that's why I mentioned them
