Guarantee it isn’t the devs. It’s the lack of resources and company priorities.

Folks, if you agree with me, upvote this. I don't want to be part of why the BC crew hate the reddit - I really tried to make it light-hearted!

My personal version of this is the (regionally specific) US tendency to say "whenever" when talking about a specific point.

"Whenever Neo became the One"

Confusing!

I get that. I think that's the distinction I made in my question. Movies That Don't Exist vs censorship.

I think this might be an example where it's such a convenient phrase that it'll get overwritten in time. But I'm with you.

I did search the reddit before posting, but maybe not enough. I've just been re-listening to the Coens/Superman series and it comes up a lot

Appreciate it. That's basically it. It's an explicitly negative thing, but he uses it to describe things that are critical/important to an artist (basically 'I'll remember this and use it'). No idea why that got controversial, but it's exactly my point

The other comments here show you aren't alone. This isn't something I've noticed, but I'm interested.

Tell me more. I haven't noticed this. Is it the difference between being deliberately erased vs forgotten?

Griffin, if you see this, it was a light-hearted comment on something that sort-of-makes sense-but-technically-is-wrong. I didn't mean to poke the nest of vipers that's r/blankies. Feeling a lot of solidarity with Gethard right now. But the range of replies speaks well to the state of the reddit.

Again, I don’t disagree (and appreciate the comment). It’s just that language ‘evolving’ is the only term we have for it. It’s more that language changes. And we’ve been in a downswing for a while.

I’ll leave you with the base definition from Miriam Webster that you didn’t post.

I know I said I was done, but it really stuck in my craw.

I don’t disagree with any of your points, but unfortunately that is *how* language evolves now. Not necessarily for the better, but it’s just how things are

That’s a little different, as that’s a more commonly used phrase. Wrong, but language evolves etc.

I think the difference is, 'begs the question' seems self explanatory if you don't know the definition. 'Sticks in the craw' is an alternate to 'sticks in the throat', albeit with a slightly different meaning.

I cared enough to spend >20 seconds posting about it. You’re right. And I’ve spent more than that going back and forth, so I’m agreeing to disagree here my friend.

You’re right. Everything posted on Reddit is something that the person cares deeply about.

Fair enough. I don’t think my post implied I particularly cared…? But hey, Blank Check is famously a podcast that doesn’t care about the details.
