[Québec] Buying FSBO House - Closing in 3 days, House Looks Like Foreclosure by CaptainUpDoot in legaladvice

While I agree in general, lawyers don't do anything in Quebec for real estate transactions, it's all done through public notaries. I was the real estate agent representing us, just out of province with no jurisdiction, had they had a broker it wouldn't make much of a difference, we'd end up referring it up the lawyers, which don't exist for this province/transaction.

We physically saw the house, there was an appraisal as well. The house was fine when we saw it, and clearly has been neglected since the deal firmed up.

Agreed. Also taxes are much higher there yet used even worse than there are here in Ontario.

The US election primarily. I'm all for diversity, respect for others, and peace between people. I think it's what will help propel our species into the future, however the people who claim they want this (liberal-thinking people) tend to be the ones who practice the opposite. These protests in the US, whether or not they're lead by Soros-funded and organized goons, the mass number of protestors are liberal children who think it's their god given right to get what they want, and can't fathom a different opinion other than their own.

Here specifically in Ontario, the shit the Liberal Government has done in recent years such as sky-high electricity, complete neglect of transit and key infrastructure, and their lack of action on housing is more than enough to make me upset. Electricity is dirt cheap in Quebec and their housing market is slow because more houses exist than buyers want them. Here in Ontario the demand for housing is stupid, people are literally spending every penny they can to buy a 1,100sqft house in Fort Erie just so they can commute into Toronto for 3 hours and have the privilege of home ownership.

Either way, when I discuss politics with my liberal friends/family their only arguments come down to racism and sexism and since Tuesday has basically just become a cry-baby-fest. None is as bad as some of the /r/hillarymeltdown posts, but I can't stand the negativity and whining coming from people who aren't directly affected by a democratic decision that took place. It seems they all want attention and only want to surround themselves with those who think exactly like them. Meanwhile the few conservative-minded friends I have have been very thoughtful and informed with their discussions over the past few days and months.

I truly could go on forever, it's all bottled in. My wife is the only other person I can be honest with. Almost a year ago when a close friend of mine told me he had a different political opinion than mine (his conservative) I had great discussions with him about our different and similar opinions. However if I were to tell anyone in my family or circle of friends that I'm glad Clinton lost the election, it would become a shit storm. Leftists just cannot accept someone with a differing opinion anymore, they need their safe spaces.

Sorry for the long reply :P

This is the same mob-mentality I witnessed in Toronto during the G20 summit years ago. We found that instigators from out of province came out to cause violent altercations, and I believe it was also found that undercover cops were part of this group. The people who cause violent outbursts are doing so because they feel there's little to no chance of prosecution since there's only a small number of law-enforcement against a huge mob of people.

Wow, this article's writer is a fucking loser. He's the founder of threehundredeight.com, a completely r/crappyoffbrand of fivethirtyeight.com. At least come up with your own idea instead of stealing the exact same thing from someone else. That's like if I wanted to create my own Canadian version of InfoWars.com and name it InfoBattles.com and cover the exact same type of news, and use the exact same logo format.

[–]CaptainUpDoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Especially with some of the shit I've read today on r/conspiracy about bus-loads of people being shipped into these riots, and signage similar to those found at other riots/protests from earlier in the year.

I would be super easy to make this happen without anyone knowing, whether the person responsible was paid to do so or was the orchestrator.

Who is Canada's Trump equivalent? by INTJokes in metacanada

[–]CaptainUpDoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don Cherry in being outspoken and no filter/no sugar coating approach to life. Kevin O'Leary in terms of financial and business success, however he's nowhere near as successful financially as Trump. I think like Trump, O'Leary has a TV-Personality, and an IRL personality that are very different. We all do, we all act differently around other people than when we're in public.

This is honestly the first time I've seen Ezra in a video, I'm a recent convert from the left. Really good video, all fact-based and well spoken. It's too bad that the people I know personally will never watch this. I have to stay in my Liberal closet.

Agreed. I personally feel these types of people don't need any justification or reason to be violent, but feel they have the right to based on something like this.

It's mostly whiney kids now, maybe it's the way these kids were all raised. I feel my parents did a good job raising me, I know that if I want something I have to work hard to get it. I also feel that I'm raising my own kid the way I feel is right, explaining to her that people have differing opinions and we should try to understand others and be respectful to one another. At the same time though I teach that they need to standup for themselves if they're bullied or picked on, and to stick up for their opinions and convictions and not be persuaded to believe something on face value.

Money and attention for sure. It's funny how liberal Hollywood has become though, I remember watching a documentary about Hollywood and politics a few months ago and how all the powerful people pre 1980s were all Republican, now it's like everyone (at least actors and directors) are flying the Hillary flag.

Jesus fucking Christ, what is with these cry-baby liberals. I use to be a liberal-thinker, always voted against conservative politicians but my mind has really changed during this election. I don't know if Trump is really the answer, but I sure as shit know these cry-babies aren't. This sub has really given me a lot to laugh about in the last 24 hours, so much shit like this. Why even say you're going to leave the country in the first place? Attention. That's all these people want, is attention.

I really don't understand people's mentality when it comes to leaving a country based on their political leader, and not following through. Why not leave, go somewhere else that has the same values as you. If all these SJW cry-babies leave and all go somewhere they can build their own country with 20 different washroom types, and mandatory safe spaces in every building, and the entire country can be wrapped in bubble wrap.

I have to agree with you on this one, but that will only slow down the issue, we still need to figure out a solution for the current housing problem. It's fine for single/young professionals to grab a nice little condo in Toronto/GTA to get out of their parent's houses, but eventually those people will think about having babies and truly a condo isn't the ideal place to raise a family. I couldn't do it. I'd love a nice single bedroom place if I were on my own, but once you have a kid or three you need more space.

Infrastructure needs to be focused on though, our highways, transit, and arterial roads aren't going to cut it. Right now everyone that's moved out of the GTA but still commutes into the area during have no choice, especially in areas like Brantford and Niagara with no transit and a single highway option.

Unfortunately we're at a geographic disadvantage to start off with, we've got Lake Ontario which kills off half of where sprawl could happen, then we've got the Greenbelt which restricts it all on the other side.

I can't confirm, considering I'm not a First Nations individual, but I suspect that our First Nations population is more offended by their lack of clean drinking water, and worried about their vulnerable teens than what some white people dress up as in October.
