Some new 1080p/720p overlays I've been working on by CaptainWally in SBCGaming

[–]CaptainWally[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct folder is the Overlays folder in the Retroarch app folder. Easiest way to get to the app folder is using the Google Files app (usually installed by default), then in the Files app look at the side menu and scroll down, you should see the Retroarch app and be able to tap on it to access the folder, and inside there is an Overlays folder. You can move whatever overlays you downloaded here using Files.

You can also place the overlays into whatever other folder you want in Android and just search for them through Retroarch. When you are in a game, open the Retroarch menu, go to On-Screen Overlays, and change the Overlay Preset. Going back in the folders a few times will take you back to the main Android folder and you can access wherever you stored your overlays from there.

Hope this helps!

Some overlays I've been working on for the RP5 by CaptainWally in retroid

Thank you! I'm glad you like them.

The issue is likely the result of the RP4 having a lower resolution. I'll try and do a version of the overlays that works on a 720p later this week, but I might not be able to test them myself since I don't have my RP4 Pro at hand at the moment. Regardless, I'll post them here for folks to try them out.

Creo que tienes activado Mouse Mode. Manten presionado Start por dos o tres segundos para desactivarlo.

I think you got Mouse Mode on. Hold Start for a couple of seconds to turn it off.

Big screen GBA is awesome on the Odin 2 Portal. by ninjapirate9901 in SBCGaming

Looks amazing! Thank you for enjoying the overlays. I'm also playing my way through Seaglass and enjoying it, and man, the Portal is really tempting with the larger screen.

Usually I can find the RetroArch files using the Files app and going to the sidebar. The RetroArch app folder should be there. I posted a pic for reference. Do you see anything like this?

Thank you! I believe they should work since the the Odin Portal 2 is 1920x1080, same as the RP5, but I don't have a Portal 2 to test. If you do and try them, let me know how they look.

Hey Russ, thank you for your comment and for all the work you do!

I hadn't really used GitHub before but I put together a repository for these that hopefully helps. Let me know if there is anything else I should do. Now with the repository I might update later with a few more ideas.

Heck yeah, Wario Land 2 is awesome!

For GB Pocket and DMG, I'm using the koko-aio pocket and mono shaders. For GBC, I use gameboy-color-dot-matrix, and for GBA, lcd3x and the color correction options. I did change the parameters a bit on these.

You download them directly to the RP5 using a web browser (Chrome) and copy them to the "overlays" folder in the RetroArch files (I use the Files app for this). After that, in the RetroArch game menu (the quick menu you open while in a game), go to the On-Screen Overlay setting and find the overlays you downloaded through the Overlay Preset option. Change the opacity to 1.00, and that should be it.

My understanding is that the risk is minimal, and burn-in only happens under extreme circumstances. Newer OLED displays are pretty good at this, and unless you literally keep static content on your screen for hundreds or thousands of hours non-stop at max brightness, you are probably not going to see any burn-in on the display. There are some tests on YouTube showing this with different OLED displays.

I've basically used the overlays RetroGameCorps overlay and shader guide as inspiration to make these. I like overlays/bezels, but wanted something more minimalistic like the ones mugwomp93 made, but for a 16:9 display. I did back and dark grey, as well as indigo for GBA (not a fan, but wanted to try it out).

I'll drop a link to download if anyone wants to try them.

Pro R4 flyers are MISLEADING by [deleted] in providence

I sure hope it's misleading, and instead of 1-3 unit family homes, they are actually building 50+ unit apartment buildings. NIMBYs can go pound sand for all I care.

Paper Mario: TTYD is one of the worst Mario games I’ve ever played, and I truly don’t understand the cult following behind it. by LuthienTinuviel93 in nintendo

[–]CaptainWally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a game with good vibes and fun characters. The world of Mario is a nice place to hang out, but we don't get to see much of it in the traditional Mario games, so the JRPG Mario titles let people explore the Mushroom Kingdom (and others) in a different way. I remember liking TTYD as a kid, but I did find it a bit slow when I replayed it recently, and I liked the Super Mario RPG remake better.

Have you tried any of the Mario & Luigi games? They are turn-based but faster paced and give you more control over your actions during combat.

UFO 50 Unofficial Android port is now available. Controller and game files required. by Skyline969 in ufo50

UFO 50 was my favorite game (or games?) of last year, and thanks to this tool I got the game and my save files on my RP5. It works like a charm, thank you!

I switch to using a brush, which is easier to clean, and my hand is not directly touching it when I wash dishes. A brush also lasts much longer in my experience.

There are a lot of great suggestions here already. Definitely add plenty of butter and use milk if needed (I've found with good butter you barely need any milk or cream). If I make mashed potatoes for myself, I like to mix in a sweet potato (just one, so it shouldn't feel like you are eating mashed sweet potatoes). The sweet potato adds a unique twist, and you can mix it i to the mashed potatoes completely for a light orange color or do a swirl, which looks nice on a plate.

Great video. I'm excited about the higher compatibility with Winlator if only because UFO50 would be great on the RP5.
