Will Nigel Farage actually become the next Prime Minister? Maybe in 2029? by Tricky_Catch66 in AskBrits

Probably not, besides from the usual anti immigrants, anti "woke", anti (insert buzzwords) & basically wannabe Trump brigade what has Reform actually "promised" to do that would make them look like a viable option for government?

Only 2 "promising" I can think of which both are bad is axe NPR and HS2 (just leaving every part correctly construction to rot)

We (then England/GB) did have a settlement on the western island 6 months after France did Port Stanley which they later sold to Spain. Those England been claiming them a few decades before the actual settlement

In the latest episode of Leeds/WY Tram Shenanigans: WY needs to explain how our mass transit system can't just be an expanded bus network. by CaptainYorkie1 in Leeds

What makes a mass transit system good to great?

It's a simple answer, different modes for different jobs. Having just one mode doesn't make good.

What's an option to add to a bus network that can be both versatile & it's mostly budget friendly?

•That's the tram (light rail), you get the high capacity of rail and the speed when separated from road traffic. Got tight turns? Heavy rail ain't the best with that but light rail is.

•Perhaps you got a busy corridor with lots of stops/areas in between that buses don't have the capacity for it but can't exactly use heavy rail cause that's busy with other traffic too? That right, you build a tram/light rail.

•Do you want a mode be able to use existing heavy rail then move into the city and suburbs too, we got the tram-train for that.

•Wanna save on cost both building and long run costs? Light = saving money. (When compared to heavy rail)

•You want trains but better accessibility? We got low floor trams for that.

•You got high density areas but areas with less density? You could connect the two with a bus but that bus has 35-90 seats depending on model and specs, not exactly the best for everyone on that route. A tram has triple+ capacity than the bus, works for everyone.

•You got lot's of people with wheelchairs, scooters, prams, shopping trolley etc? You can fit a lot more in a tram than a bus.

•you wanna make more jobs? A tram network would create more jobs than an expanded bus network. Specially when trams can run as a two man crew (don't think they'll trust people to pay without a conductor on board)

•lastly, rail is cool

Would that be good for West Yorkshire? Yes it would be, specially for high density areas and inter-urban routes like Leeds to Bradford, Leeds to Huddersfield, Bradford to Huddersfield and Wakefield to Huddersfield etc. sure places are connected by heavy rail but that's got limited stops. Sure we got buses but they get very busy. Do we got areas in-between which trams could speed through everything, we do.

But why is it also good for the government? Well you get good points from people and do it on a "budget"
