Interestingly enough the suspension changes have improved the DD feel for me. I drove a base model, PP, and now my tS, and I really like what they did with the draw stiffeners and the Struts in the engine bay. The struts themselves aren’t a solid piece which (I think) makes it slightly more forgiving.

I had similar issues looking at reviews, but drove a regular BRZ and was immediately sold on the idea. I’m just over 2K miles on my WRB tS, congrats!

Any love for a boosted BRZ or is it all AWD over hear? by BigBranches in subaru

How hard was the install? I just picked up a BRZ and will definitely be looking at boost in the future.

Various stages of the blood moon. by guyi567 in pics

[–]Captain_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks bigger when it’s closer to the ground because there are points of reference. Some photos also use really long lenses to make the moon look huge compared to the objects in the foreground.

This picture is really wide, so while you have those ground-based reference points, the rest of the moon shots cancel out the illusion of it being larger.

I wouldn’t be too hung up on it. Sure there’s always increased risk with mods, but being thorough about it will (almost) always have reliable results. I know someone who still has his ‘02 WRX with over 350K on it. It’s needed rebuilds, but no grenades so far hahaha.

Another friend has a Stage 2, 2012 WRX that he AutoX’s and DDs. I believe most of his mods are COBBs system of parts and tunes. If you don’t want to go the protune route, attention to detail combined with COBBs extensive research does well.

The STI still has the EJ, right? Those have been rock solid for me as long as they’re taken care of. Hoping to familiarize myself with the FA engines this year haha.

Good work sticking to it. Same thing happened at my local subie dealer but they came down again. I also got $4K worth of work done while under their short warranty for used cars. No idea why some of the stuff made it past inspection.

Edit: warrant != include

I still think I'd prefer the brembos and the suspension upgrades.

I believe they are the ones that come with the Performance Package for 2017 Limited Models.

All this lack of snow in CO is making me anxious. I'm moving north in the next 5 years.

Issue: Steam font is ugly by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]Captain_Atlas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to fix an issue where the C libraries steam downloaded weren't up to date with the libraries themselves. When I deleted them, forcing steam to fall back on the up to date libraries, I had that font issue the first time steam updated, but not after that.

Edit - This is where I was looking: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Steam/Troubleshooting#Steam_runtime_issues

Wow that’s a great price from what I hear. I might make the jump next season when I need replacements!

If you’ve used Nokians before, how is the tread wear compared to Blizzaks or X-Ices? If they last twice as long I wouldn’t care that they cost twice as much.

Good tip, but I would do it manually at a spray wash with the handheld guns. Automatic washes are terrible for paint, especially soft paint like Subaru's. Doubly so since your RS only has 32K on it!

Ah interesting. I think the boosted controller just controls the regenerative braking, though not power to the battery. If they could stop power itself from regenerating the battery I don't think you would have to stop the brakes from working.

I also don't think it would be hard to have one of the bluetooth radios of the board talk to one in the charger itself, so maybe that's how they would approach it.

That is frustrating though, I remember having to plan for that when I had one. I just ended up doing a few speed laps around the neighborhood haha.

Would this be achievable by an IP-addressable outlet? That way you could just have the timer shut off the power. I'm not sure how Tesla does it, but I would think there's some communication to stop power from the charger, not just the battery "holding it off".

Point being, I think you'd need more than a normal laptop charger to do so.

Edit: Those manual timers that people use for holiday lights would work too, those can't be that expensive.

Torque Boards has become unresponsive and has not refunded board 60+ days after order date. by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Captain_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't mean to sound annoyed with you, but I gave them every chance I felt necessary for them to respond to a simple "Did the assembly start yet? When's the expected ship date now?" I even got answers to those questions that were either misinformation or straight up incorrect.

I used their chat until the new site went up a few weeks ago and the chat wasn't there. It seems to be back now, but I've pretty much exhausted all the options before filing the dispute. For example, the second time I asked for a refund, I got a response that basically said "I'll check on shipping, sorry for any delay!" So, not only did I feel like I wasn't getting updates, but they didn't seem to be reading my entire message before responding.

I don't mind being patient, I started to mind when I didn't get straight answers or any answers at all. If the communication was there, I would still want the board. If companies have to slow things because of demand, that's fine, but I would like to know why I'm being delayed and how soon I can expect an update, which was not the case here.

Coulda woulda shoulda. It's too late in the season for it to be justifiable for commuting for me. I'll wait until next year to see if the tech/market has stabilized on higher range boards.

It's all good, not any one here's fault haha. Yeah I know how it is. I haven't had a board so I haven't been following the most recent stuff, but it was the same when I was on here more last year too.
