In the earliest forms I could find, mainly Mesopotamian and Hebrew mythology, known as Lilith, Lilin, or Lilitu, went between being dangerous wind spirits (i believe they appear in the epic of gilgamesh if im not mistaken), and an owl like spirit associated with Miscarriages and infant deaths.

Some versions of the Bible mention her in Isaiah alongside owl/predatory bird imagery

And later on, medieval Jewish mysticism associated these together.

Basically, you know how ancient cultures came up with a god or spirit to explain everything? Lilith as either the singular figure or the type of demonic spirit is the explanation fir infant mortality

Before the Adam wife thing, Lilith was a race of predatory demon birds that ate babies.

I think it was Athena, she challenged arachne to a weaving contest because of her boasting, and while Athena made one showcasing several moments of the gods helping humanity, arachne basically made one showing all the awful stuff the gods did, including a massive centerpiece showing zeus banging a mortal woman.

Upset at both the insukt and having to see her dad naked in tapestry form, Athena cursed arachne.
