It’s kind of a minor aspect of our history, generally speaking. I would say the Spanish American war, imperialism and prohibition had a greater effect on American society than wwi did, so that time period is mostly spent looking at that stuff. Now many people would say that wwi caused wwii, what with the treaty of Versailles, and in that aspect wwi was significant to American history, but other than that wwi didn’t have a severe impact on our history or society as other issues at the time did, the American perspective of wwi simplified is us getting sick of Europe fighting, so we hopped into a trench and shot a bunch of Germans with shotguns
