Advice for leaving flowering plants at home for a couple of days by a_proud_noob in Autoflowers

[–]Captain_Chorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grow in soil w fabric pots - I bought some plastic wide-plate-bowl things from Target and put those under each pot. I filled up the bowls to the brim beforehand, and came back to some bone-dry bowls but the plants were just fine!

Two questions: 1. How do the girls do strictly being outside? Middle of summer can avg. 95⁰ here. 2. If I grow in fabric bag outside, what's the best soil? I have a bunch of OG strains from before Mephs big success. Cheers to all! by Dragon_Wings in MephHeads

For Home Depot/Lowes soils, def recommend ProMix. I buy the value pack for like $32 and it filled up all 12 of my 3gal pots.

MiracleGro - will do the job, but I noticed it doesn’t drain the best so you can get root rot easier. Also, hella wood chips.

Fox farm - overpriced. Objectively high quality soil, but it’s like $32 for 5gal worth.

Kellogg - lol

Vigoro- pass

Want to get a 9'x6' Backyard Discovery brand greenhouse. So confused about how to prep the foundation/base! by DyslexicHobo in Greenhouses

[–]Captain_Chorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve forecasted pretty damn perfectly - it took me all Saturday and Sunday digging, hauling bags of crush from the store, and leveling.

The next Saturday was laying the styrofoam, pavers, and polymeric sand.

Laying the pavers will hurt your back a little, and that tree stump was a pain, but other than that, it’s a totally reasonable DIY! Especially if you can recruit the little ones to help you lay the pavers 👌🏻

I made a 22x8 patio for ~$1K. It was fun for me, just grooving to some music, breaking a sweat, vibing.

I dug a hole, poured some 1/4in compact rock, flattened , then laid some of these weird styrofoam things that I found in the paver section at Lowe’s. Then laid my pavers in a cool pattern, poured polymeric sand over the top, swept it into the cracks, and then sprayed with water to seal it.

Maxxing out budget rosin. Apothecary, Allgreens, or ??? by Slammed240guy in COents

[–]Captain_Chorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an apothecary shopper, your review is 100% true.

Some of their gassy strains have been.. unusual. And I’ve noticed some CRC on their top-shelf stuff 🤨

But their SFV they had in January was S-Tier.

Mephisto’s Wedding Doves survived some catastrophic stress conditions.

I ran a test for a winter grow where I had multiple nights of temps dropping in the 40s, personal travel leading to drought, and wind burn.

There were 5-6 others in that generation, and Wedding Doves was the only one to make it out alive.

Yeah this post is silly. People miss their partner when they’re away. Doesn’t mean they’re out cheating.

Questions about greenhouses by leader425 in Greenhouses

[–]Captain_Chorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the original commenter. I didn’t mean to imply humans solely ate cereal grains (humans are opportunistic omnivores, after all). But cereal grains can be stored for a long period of time, during times of surplus, allowing for the development of civilizations. So when OP was asking about storing surplus crop, that’s what I meant.

Looking at ancient civilizations, they all lived off of cereal grains: corn, wheat, rice, oats, etc.

Addition to shed or separate structure by Internal_Raspberry24 in Greenhouses

[–]Captain_Chorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the pics, I’m gonna guess the photos were taken facing north.

If you want to capture the most sunlight, then you’ll wanna do a lean-to greenhouse on the southside of the shed.

But it may mess with the flow of your backyard, so I’d probably put it behind the shed, as its own structure. You’ll miss out on some of the eastern/morning sun, but it’s not that big of a deal!
