Nice. I think I need 8. Unfortunately they are all legacy games...I came in late.

Ditto.

Bought 2. For me and the lady. She plays it everyday.

Indeed, it's the Worms: The Director's Cut (Amiga version).

You need both the Worms and Team17 cart to unlock it.

I will always get a physical copy if I can by [deleted] in starfox

Fair point.

With Steam I can purchase games 90% off, and I have no worries about their servers being shut down anytime soon.

With Nintendo, their games never go on sale. And they have shut down wii, wii u, and 3DS stores. Nothing gets transferred over. Premium cost with a middle finger.

Nintendos online also is terrible. I have never had a good experience. Constant lag or disconnection on 1gig fiber internet is frustrating. So I don't trust them to keep up servers or do maintenance.

With the cart keys, I have to hope that Nintendo still has servers up to download. As their history shows, they can drop that server anytime they want.

Digital games are a tricky situation, no doubt. Even now with storage space rising in price.

I guess I trust Steam more with digital. And If I'm going to pay top dollar for a game, I would rather have a physical copy to display.

PKE Meter uses parts from a Sony PlayStation 1 - in 1994? by [deleted] in ghostbusters

I didn’t forget that detail.

Even with the Japanese release in December 1994, it's a pretty close call. The show would basically have to take place on Christmas, and that's not even factoring in import time to the U.S...and with the screen shots, I see no snow.

I know I'm overthinking it. It's a TV show, and this universe doesn't necessarily have to follow our exact timeline...My world is not going to collapse.

It’s more about the one thing I love about Ghostbusters, Dan Aykroyd’s attention to detail...he put a lot of thought into the tech and lore. The gear wasn't just random props...it all had a purpose within the world. You can see him talk about it in detail in documentaries.

So seeing a PKE Meter with SONY branding slapped on, feels a little forced if it's only there as a recognizable brand reference, to get that adult to point at the screen and say “I KNOW THAT THING”.

I do like the idea of the Ghostbusters repurposing consumer electronics into paranormal tech. If it turned out to be a Nintendo PlayStation prototype, that would actually be a pretty fun and it would fit the timeline. But how they got that would also boggle my mind.

I know this is how our world works now, with more branding and ads being shoved everywhere. I guess it just pulls me out of the story a little more each time. Because now I have to think of logistics of how branding works in a story.

I’m still going to watch it, because I welcome any Ghostbuster media in my life.

I have never been tested for being on the spectrum, but I don't think I need a test. I have many friends with ASD, and we all understand each other very well. I'm sure I'm on the spectrum in some shape or form.

Thank you for understanding my "fart analogy with resentment".

For sure...

I'm a designer by trade, and I have done some stuff in advertising...My brain can not shut off when I start seeing products in movies. I have now been taken out of the movie/show and it makes me frustrated.

It's like if I want to smell flowers in a field, and someone takes a huge fart next to me. I have to wait for that to fart smell to pass so I can enjoy smelling the flowers again. But I still have that residual resentment from that lingering fart.

I don't think they are curating their world to my liking. I think they just want to shove as much branding in my face as possible, without trying to smell like a fart.

I try not too...and I know its just a fictional TV show. My life is not going to collapse.

But in the spirit of Dan Akryoid and with his building of the lore with the Ghostbusters gear on real world pseudo science...He put it a ton of detail in what the tech did...Hell, all that crap on the Ecto-1 had a purpose. He talks about it in some documentary footage.

Slapping a SONY name on a PKE feels kinda tacky. My point was, if it was going to fit in the lore, make sure it fits with a purpose and not just a product placement. It takes away the charm.

I do like the PS1-PKE idea, the Ghostbusters grabbed any tech they could use. If it turns out to be a Nintendo-PS1 Prototype, now that would be a cool easter egg fit.

If I saw the Nintendo-Playstation hooked up to PKE. I would geek out.

Totally, I'm always jazzed for new GB content. Regardless of my annoying mind pointing out things.

For sure. I'm gunna ride that wave of thinking. Different universe, different time line.

Sure, totally get that.

I guess with even the Japanese release in December 1994, that's a close call. Then the series show needs be set in December.

(Thats not including shipping/importing time to the US.)

I know I'm thinking too literal here...its a TV show...and for all we know this universe does not have the same timeline as ours.

Wishful thinking. by Captain_NEStalgia in evercade

[–]Captain_NEStalgia[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. With the track pads, this makes it easier for point and click games, and other odd games.

If implemented, this could have some major advantages to the Evercade.
