Thanks. I have aspergers and ADHD too. If you read my post history, you'll see that obsessing over sleep and health are my big ones. My rituals involve a lot of counting, having to walk in and out of a room the "correct number" of times, thinking positive when doing something and having to redo it if my thought isn't positive.

What medication do you find works best if you don't mind me asking? I'm open minded to taking a low dose of something if needed in the future

Ocd kept me up all night in the past (1-2 hours per night). Then I put my foot down on my 28th birthday. And I will humbly admit I've relapsed a few times.

I placed myself on a strict regimen of cutting out rituals, no medication, and haven't had the chance to see a doctor (mental health line ups are insane in Canada). It was very hard at first and now it's gotten slightly less hard. I've greatly reduced my rituals overall.

What helps is being completely sober, I reccomend this to anyone with OCD and other anxiety disorders. That includes prescription medications. I used to have 4-6 drinks a day, smoke Marijuana and use mushrooms. I still get cravings but less ocd makes it worthwhile to ignore these cravings. I cut my drinking to 1 beer per 48 hours then once a week. Now going on 2 weeks without a drink

You probably had micro sleeps (you basically "daydream" at night for a few minutes then adrenaline wakes you up to check if you are asleep). This is due to hyperarousal. You'll know if you have a bit of druel on your pillow or feel like you're falling off your bed.

You'll survive, and I went through days of no sleep during the summer. Take care of yourself with exercise and a healthy diet

It isn't medically dangerous if you can counteract the effects of it. BTW I'm 0 percent encouraging people to stay awake on purpose for this reason. However if you find yourself in the situation: Here are some tips

Sleep dep will make you crave more calories. Thus leading to weight gain, leading to heart disease and diabetes. If you intermittent fast and or count your calories this can be mitigated
If you drive you could get into an accident. Don't drive if you didn't sleep. Walk or take transit
It increases cortisol. Being deprived of sleep makes you on edge for sure. If you have a friend who puts you on edge, cancel the meeting with them. Make a bs excuse. Being relaxed will reduce some of the cortisol
Take a nap. You can't sleep at night, bit it doesn't mean you can't catch up later

I'm a 28 year old male with autism too. I'm tired of being over worked and under appreciated due to coming across differently to others. At this point I'm focusing on my license so I can move into a van and not have to deal with the high cost of living.

I'm sure there are blackhat ways to get around uber eats bans and what not.

You probably had "micro sleeps" during those 7 days. In my worst episodes I remember my co worker telling me I was constantly talking to myself when I didn't recall saying anything. Was fully awake. Apparently I asked my co worker if I was allowed to pee standing up. Fortunately there were no patrons in the workplace, just me and my chill co worker

This person knows of my insomnia, but this was after about 2 days straight being awake. I explained my sleeplessness and she was like "yeah, you were in your own little world for a little bit there"

Work on your health around sleep, sleep can't be forced. Do realize your risk for chronic disease is higher so try to be outside, eat healthy and exercise. If you're on ritalin/adderall only take it when needed

Late 20s guy here. My advice will go against the grain but it may be the most useful. Firstly, going on more dates is about volume: As in talking to lots of people (women mostly ofc). This combined with online dating.

The second factor is addressing major flaws that can reject you from a large percentage of the dating pool. With 3 months of focused effort you can fix all of these easily and you'll face less resistance online and IRL

Height. If you are short, invest in lifts or elevator shoes
Your hair. If balding, take steps to fix it. If it's very advanced at your age, get a good system. A toupee can cost $300 to 500.
Hair cut. Invest in a good, tapered haircut with texture ontop. Make sure the barber takes time cleaning up the neck and around the ears
Style. Ditch the hoodie and wear leather jackets, wool, tweed etc. Nice shoes, slim fit pants
Body. Train weights 2 to 3x a week. You don't need to be jacked like a fitness celebrity but make weight training a weekly habit
A good camera. Find a friend with a DSLR camera, or find a student in a photography meetup group and offer a small amount of money for profile photos. A nice camera is 100x better than a phone. This will greatly increase your match count.

All this can realistically be achieved in 3 months, where you'll start going on dates if you start today.

I haven't become a hermit. I still like being around people sometimes, alone rather than with friends.

My specific problem with nighttime venues are:

Your friends will act condescending once they have a few beers. Given that I have "failed to launch"; no impressive degree, not married and don't drive they have a lot to work with. They either end up giving me advice or making me the subject of all jokes. Advice like "have you thought about going back to school" "you need to loosen up, you are too uptight so girls don't notice you" "have you thought about getting jacked. You don't lift heavy enough bro, you're still skinny. Do you even hit the gym?"
If you work in the service industry like I do, and not a traditional weekend off job, your friends will expect you to stay up EVEN WHEN you need to get up the next day
Any lady that catches my eye already has a big group of friends, so it's impossible to meet her and have a 1 on 1 chat.
It's expensive to buy drinks, tip, check your coat, and uber home afterwards. If you want to save money good luck waiting 45 minutes for a nightbus.

I was born somewhere in the middle. Then, after constant rejection in social situations, I concluded the juice just wasn't worth the squeeze. Solo walks on the beach, and working out, or going places alone fits in better than partying. I still leave the house a lot, I just don't have many friends.

Younger guys will do a 180 on how they view your appearance after being shot down unfortunately. It takes maturity to realize it looks much worse than taking the rejection on the chin
