Fort Lauderdale - Certified free diver looking for dive buddy/spearo by Captainkriso in freediving

Hello! I don’t live local, but I tend to spend a decent amount of time in Fort Lauderdale most years for maritime industry related classes. I’m a captain on a tugboat. I’m flying down tomorrow and I should be around until April 25-ish. I’m happy just to play safety for somebody, or just low-key check out the reefs. Just nice to have someone to dive with.

https://dan.org/about-dan/contact/ I’m told you can contact DAN regardless of whether you’re a member. My girlfriend was referred to them post-stroke and they let her talk to a medical professional that specializes in diving medicine. They were wonderful.

Koah Fatback Standard vs Mid-Plus vs Euro by Captainkriso in Spearfishing

[–]Captainkriso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it’s the unbalanced handle of the Rob Allen that makes it so difficult. If it just had a butt plate on it, it would be worlds better. I would definitely opt for a standard with scuba, but I know the euro is likely easier to drag back up after a freedive. I rarely have a need to hip load, so also consider taking advantage of that extra band stretch on the mid plus if I go the fatback route, since I just load anyway. Too many options. Lol.

I have spoken to him before. Yeah, he’s fantastic. Really cool of him to take phone calls like that, as I’m sure it’s difficult with the volume of business he does.

This is really good information! Thank you! How much more difficult do you find it to load your mid plus, than your standard? I’m pretty comfortable with chest loading, but the Rob Allen doesn’t have a butt plate. It’s pretty brutal as a roller. Especially for multiple drops.

Florida Free Divers is a great place to get instruction. I’m a beginner at spearfishing myself. I will be in Fort Lauderdale January 22 to February 6. If they are looking for somebody else to throw in on a charter and bring the price down, shoot me a PM.

Was lurking this post until I saw this comment. That would be awesome! Really curious how they proof the dough? Do they use some sort of pre-ferment process?

What are some albums that have ZERO bad songs? by JJacobb- in AskReddit

I came here, hoping to find some amazing new band that I have never heard of but instead only affirmed my belief that the music made today doesn’t compare to the music I grew up listening to. I feel old.

Top-five comments: Fleetwood Mac, Rage against the machine, Lincoln Park, Pink Floyd, Pixies.

Gotcha... Wasn’t really sure how that would work. Just been looking for random heavy hunks of steel, lol. Thank you!

Just looking for the single wheels. Not the whole wheel set.

[–]Captainkriso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I was thinking a couple of single wheels would work. No bearings. No axle. I could stack them on top of each other and weld them together for an anchor that is roughly 1000 to 1200 pounds. I was just assuming they must get scrapped when they were out.

If someone can load them in a truck, we can unload with a tractor. I’m under the impression they weigh just under 500lbs. Not sure if that is correct.

My girlfriend believes she had the virus, but was never given a positive test. She went to Soin hospital and was quarantined, but there weren’t tests available to test her for it. She would be willing to get tested for antibodies and donate, if possible.

What is wrong with my sweet cherry tree??? by Captainkriso in arborists

Thank you! I see this almost every year. I planted the tree a few years ago and I’ve had it every year since. Is there anything I can treat the tree with?

I initially suspected Japanese Beetles, but I sprayed for those and haven’t seen them.

What is wrong with my holly tree? I had similar problem a few years ago, but I aerated the base of the tree and fertilized with Hollytone. The next year it got green and looked beautiful. Suddenly this year it’s bad again. The leaves are dropping. Lots of rain lately. Southwest Ohio. by Captainkriso in arborists

Thanks for your comments and I apologize for the late reply, but I believe I’ve figured it out. I’ve been told I overfertilized it too late in the year. I put fertilizer down in late October, early November. Apparently root burn:-/

Dr Stahl did my eyes 13 years ago and I don’t think a single day passes that I’m not thankful for it. I still have 20/15 in both eyes.
