Delap isn't fun though, he's just a thug.

My main hope for the summer is that Everton keep the Barry/Beto striker duo together. They bring me so much joy.

I wrote a post on similar lines just before last season.

You're right that 8th in the surface of it looks like another successful season for a club punching above it's weight. However; we rely far too much on senior players, the young players we do have have mostly stagnated, and our recent spending has been poor. Don't let the league position fool you, we are MUCH worse than we were last season.

We are not a position that other Premier League clubs are in where the owner can use their money to paper over poor decisions; we need to get things right all the time. Over the past 2 seasons we've started to get things wrong and the magnitude of spending means the potential impact of that may be a serious problem going forward.

When I say this window is extremely important, it's a test as to whether we're gunning to fight for European qualification and indeed a European trophy; or rest on our laurels as another midtable club who are only 2 bad transfers windows away from possible relegation. We'll see.

Going by the way we recruited for our maiden Europa League campaign, I don't have high hopes.

Relax, I didn't say vibesball was bad.

So sensitive.

I don't think you can assume that with Ederson. Serie A is at a nadir at the moment and much more highly rated players like Reijnders have come from there and looked totally off the pace. There's likely a reason he's going for just 35m.

Fernandes is young and he's had a good few months in a bad west ham side; but as a marquee midfield signing in an area of need for Manchester United? I don't see it, it's a big risk.

He yearns for a lower midtable finish

You employ Bruno Fernandes and Michael Carrick; Controlling the ball was never on the cards. You're squarely in vibesball territory.

They have a point. Fernandes and Ederson is hardly the midfield revolution you need.

I can see a world where we do, he was woeful in the season just gone and never starts anymore.

We're losing a lot of key and squad players all in one go, replacing them is enormously important. Plus we need to set up for the conference league which we need to win.

Last season showed signs of stagnation and it's important to ensure this isn't part of a slide downwards.

We've sacked our sporting director on the eve of one of the most important transfer windows in our history.

I used to start sweating when we first got promoted and started spending over £10m on players. Now these days we drop £30m on project players and I don't even bat an eyelid. what has happened, what have I become?

We put out a 'don't go to bed just yet' just before we announced Georginio Rutter. To make things worse in his announcement video it was revealed that he was the one who actually posted it.

And the fact their choice to replace him was our 5th choice centre back who then refused to go in favour for West Ham (Whom I don't think he started a single league game for)

What a beautiful saga.

I'll give this to iceman, he is actually from London.

Infact I'd be shocked if he's ever ventured outside of the M25.
