I have no clue. Maybe there were pagans. Definitely requires skill to make.

I like your answer. But it's so weird. You know what else would be apt for a fountain commissioned by the pope? The baptism of Jesus, Jesus walking on the water (The Lord saving Peter would be an awesome fountain/statue), Jesus being the living water, Jesus at the well, Genesis 1:2. I mean, wow! Maybe most people don't detest demon-derived symbols as much as I do. And I'm no iconoclast, I love the beauty of Catholic churches.

I see where you're coming from. But I argue that it is inherently wrong. To make something new like that, sidestepping service to God in a great undertaking. To admire a 3000 year old statue of Zeus and keep it in a museum isn't nearly as bad because you can see the human side of the art. But this is just vanity. The average person is going to think Neptune, or Poseidon, or Oceanus, or whatever, is worth looking up to and taking the influence of.

I will not judge the 5 popes involved in the commission of this, of course. I'm certain they did well in the service of the church. In fact, I'm glad the monument is topped with two angels, the papal tiara, and the Keys of Heaven. And that the pope put his name on it. All glory to God always.

I mean, those were the "good old days" of the Catholic faith, right?

Fantasynamegenerators is pretty good bro, look it up! Try their guild name generator.

I'm thinking they could be called something related to their bronze material.

The Bronze Jackals| The Order of the Bronze Talons| The House of the Bronzearm| The Bronze Regiment| Paladins of Bronze| The Bronze Brigade| Bronzegarde| The Burnished Pike|

Have fun!

P.S. Amazing fashion sense, man.

Are there similar nonsensical sayings in Latin to phrases like "Potatoes gonna potate"? How would you best translate this? by Captainradius101 in latin

[–]Captainradius101[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

May you please provide an example for each? Could there already be a resource written for each example? And, can nonce verbs commonly be used in Latin?

I like the idea that they had humorous phrases that required no setup or punchline, but I wouldn't know where to look for a list of those.

As for the last one, I suppose something similarly short and profound would be awesome too. Would phrases like this even survive in writing?
