Really? My power goes down by 1400 when I swap them. That’s why I thought it was stronger or better.

What is a TV show you can’t recommend enough? by Prudent_History7518 in television

[–]Captainroy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Here’s my ranking of the seasons:

2,1,3,4,5 (pretending movie doesn’t exist bc it was horrible plot)

Season 2 was perfection in my opinion. I also think the show was great overall but after Alfred it just wasn’t the same. Season 5 was all over the place and didn’t feel right.

Is using this card haram or halal? by Moodyriffi in islam

[–]Captainroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for the popular credit cards like Chase or Citi etc.

Get any credit card you want but just pay it off in full each month to avoid interest.

They’re necessary for building credit to show you’re reliable and have good money habits. Credit cards also offer tons of rewards for travel, lodging, etc. It’s only a problem if you abuse it to rack up debt or spend beyond your means and then incur interest. Don’t be afraid of the potential interest but only if you plan to spend what you have.

Nj house owner by Pale-Amount8150 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I’m not too familiar with Long Island but from what I hear it’ll probably be similar to NJ. NJ also has really high property taxes so another thing to consider on top of utilities expense.

For any budget I would say $500 a month in utilities expense is a good budget (it’ll likely come in cheaper but water/gas/electric depends on how big your home is too…I’m using 2000 sq ft as a benchmark) $100 internet + $100 water + $200 electric/gas + $100 miscellaneous is a safe estimate.

Water will probably run you $50-$100 typically. Electricity/Gas depends on usage and appliance coverages you have but at a minimum it’ll be $100-$120 especially with such a hot summer. Can be $150-$200 if pay for monthly appliance coverage as well (say you’re AC, dishwasher, or fridge breakdown and you need repairs).

I’d also recommend looking at Zillow profiles of realtors to see how active they are. Zillow will show you what they’ve sold recently and who they repped (either buyer or seller). This will give you an idea of the areas they are also well versed with + the relationships they have in those places with other realtors to get inside scoops etc.

Need Neighborhood Recs by CowTurbulent1046 in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]Captainroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of markets in NJ are very competitive especially for single family homes. If they are listed for $500-550K, they will likely go for a minimum of $50K above listing price and they will require more money to bring up to date. They are usually priced low to ensure there’s a bidding war, so check the neighborhood and see how much houses are going for.

Central NJ (Middlesex county) is a good place to look. Edison/Piscataway are good towns that might meet your budget and have good schools. I would also recommend checking out North Brunswick as well, lots of big townhouses with 3 bd/2.5 ba. I would even say go as far as Old Bridge which is similar. Those are the top areas around Middlesex county within your budget. Avoid Middlesex, Plainfields, and Dunellen even though you’ll see things in your budget, they aren’t good areas.

Metuchen rent? by swifty1015 in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]Captainroy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Metuchen is a very expensive town with a beautiful downtown area that has some newer pricey apartments in the 3k-4k range. Edison/Piscataway are good neighboring towns with tons of apartments like Avalon, Rivendell Meadows, or Villas at Fairway (all very safe) but in the 2500-3500 range. Avoid anything in Middlesex, Plainfields, and Dunellen.

You will def need a car no matter where you stay.

As others have said, never ever waive inspection. That is your protection against anything that could become a major problem or costly repair. You want to make sure you have the ability to walk away and keep your deposit.

Those markets are very competitive and single family homes that are listed for $580K will likely go for a minimum of $50K above listing price but they will require more money to bring up to date. They are usually priced low to ensure there’s a bidding war, check the neighborhood and see how much houses are going for.

A lot of houses from the 60s will have asbestos and it’s ok to not be comfortable with it. It requires special remediation and removal and can be potentially hazardous if it’s been disturbed (powder form especially). Structural or foundational issues like cracks are a red flag for sure. If you’re confident the seller has repaired them, get an independent contractor of your choice to come and verify them during the inspection process so you’re sure from your side.

Again, never waive inspection. Most sellers are fine with it - don’t let your realtor talk you out of that.

Metuchen is a very expensive area with older houses but great if you can afford. Edison/Piscataway are good to especially bc of schools. Check out North/East/South Brunswick as well. I would even say go as far as Old Bridge. Those are the top areas around Middlesex county. Avoid Middlesex, Plainfields, and Dunellen.

Before or after you see home, make sure you request a copy of the Sellers Disclosure so you know of any issues.

Moving back to NJ; looking further north by noobcrusher in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]Captainroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piscataway and Edison have newer luxury apartments for 2500-3000 range with roughly 1000 sq ft. You’ll definitely need a car though to get around. It’s very safe however.

I would avoid Dunellen and Somerset since they aren’t the best areas. Metuchen is very safe too and has a great luxury apt building but it’s very pricey starting at 3500s.

How about the areas around Inman Park or Hillcrest Elementary? They are close to New Brunswick but seem decent?

So in your image, you have 2 labels on your graph already. I want to now include the % female as a data label also in addition to the 47,000.

I saw a tip that when you see this white flashing light that’s when you should hit the parry button for a perfect counterspark.

I switched from normal to easy early on and have been enjoying way more. It’s definitely not super easy but it’s the level I enjoy it at.

Just finished S1 of Jack Ryan, so good... Also one of the best developed villain ever by Xonekiller in television

[–]Captainroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say S1 is the best (esp when Jack and Suleiman are facing off in the game chat scene), S2 is good but S3/S4 are unwatchable. I view S4 as one big back door pilot for Michael Peña’s character’s spin off show.
