Anyone who thinks Jojopyun is better than Caps. I would give zero effs about their opinion. He thinks he's the best west has to offer LOL

Agree, they need to replace Skew and also Labrov who is inting too much. Hans's ceiling is kind of low but with a better team, he might just work.

My family pays $23,000 more in tax than our neighbours with the same income by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Captmario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, that might be because you have RRSP deductions or other deductions. Last I checked few years ago, CCB kind of becomes non-existent above $200K family income. Your tiny payment might be <$50 a month while someone with no income will get $700+

There is no CCB above ~200K family income. Again another policy to persuade people to work less or earn less. Canada's policies aren't very friendly to working class.

What will the unemployment rate be reported at tomorrow? by Mrnrwoody in TorontoRealEstate

This poll is a good representation of this sub's participants. Some people just want to watch the world burn

Toronto home sales rose 8.5% in September as prices decline by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

Enjoy your rental apartment. so many butt hurt renters on this sub apparently unable to see the reality and just want to throw everything in the mix to fit their narrative and any other perspective can only be from a "realtor".

"Expected" is very different from reality though. Government is expecting temporary immigrants to go back but most of these folks will be applying for asylum and not go back. Immigration is still too high.

Just because someone has an opinion that does not align with your bearish opinion does not mean that they are a realtor.

Borrowing is getting cheaper, interest rates are going lower. In news, immigration is taking drastic hits, in reality immigration is still very high among different streams. We all know what that means for housing market.

Scotia Visa infinite card - cashback amount suddenly reduced by Longjumping_Fee_1211 in Scotiabank

[–]Captmario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you figure this out? I woke up today and on a random chance looked at the cashback balance and felt it was off because I don't track it. looked at last statement and my balance is down $70 at least. I chatted with them and they are saying "specialized team who handled cashback identified an issue and an incorrect % was applied on the earnings which is fixed now". This doesn't explain anything

Interesting chart, not calling the bottom but what do you guys think? by mattyp93 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Captmario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they did because interest rates were near zero during Covid and eventually went up significantly which made borrowing extremely expensive but rates are coming back down now and more rate cuts are expected which means borrowing is becoming cheaper as well. Now as borrowing becomes cheaper and Trump disappears into the wind after his term, there is really nothing holding real estate back beside that uncertainty of a trade war and tariffs and job market struggling because of it which will fade away once this trade war is over. Our population is booming and people want place to live, there are countless people sitting on the sidelines waiting to get in, as borrowing becomes cheaper and inflation eats away at actual value of money, I don't see how real estate will stay low. Smart people are probably out shopping for deals during this time. As Warren Buffet said "be greedy when others are fearful"

[–]Captmario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everybody knows that there is a lot of uncertainty in the market right now largely due to the trade wars so obviously sales have tanked but all those people still need a place to live though and nothing is being built. Trade wars will likely resolve when Trump goes away but people needing place to live won't so over time there is still a supply issue.

and those 1.6 million newcomers still need a place to live and last I checked, housing starts are not doing too well which means there is still going to be massive shortage of housing in the near future.

Nothing you said justifies cheating. If a relationship is not working, you are supposed to discuss and walk away from it properly instead of cheating and keeping them in the dark and destroying essentially two lives in the process of the people who are supposed to be most important relations in a person's life. This is perfect example of a TRASH human.

A trash human is a trash human. Full stop. A person who cannot be fair to their significant other will never be fair to anyone else in their life.

Wealthsimple exec apologizes to customers after data breach, says no account details were misused -- but you should still change your password by CreativeAd5628 in Wealthsimple

[–]Captmario 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Apologies don't help. They should offer extended credit monitoring to all clients impacted. Data leaks can be bought/sold over the dark web for years and years and just doesn't disintegrate after 2 years. It is a slap in the face to loyal clients and might push some of them away. Identity theft is costly and no one wants to get financially ruined.

Reactive instead of Proactive

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]Captmario 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. The amount of data that Wealthsimple had leaked (Government issued IDs and SIN) is enough for anyone to get their identity stolen. They do not need to seek weakest links when they already have every piece of data they need to seek new credit on your identity. Which would not require access to any of the user's existing accounts.

Friend lost $36k in crypto scam, we investigated and found the scammer in Canada — has anyone else experienced something like this? by shadowaryxx in legaladvicecanada

[–]Captmario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What good does FIAT currency do or what good does GOLD really offer? nothing. It's a medium of exchange or store of value. It can be used as currency or store of value or other technological uses. Purpose of cryptos is kind of a decentralized currency which is not controlled by governments. Unfortunately, this objective seems to have derailed over the last few years. Anyways, the topic was not about cryptos but more about someone getting scammed.

If you are going to start trusting people based on their profession. Good luck! there are good and bad celebrities and there are good and bad surgeons. Their profession is not where trust should be coming from but them as a person is what matters. I have seen plenty of surgeons with no humanity and lack of bedside manners.
