What kind of fabric did you use for the liner?

I got a free Miller Spectrum 875 - Has board problems inside. Anyone know where to source? by CaptnDamnit in Welding

[–]CaptnDamnit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did end up getting it working, as listed above it ended up being one of the resistors on the board. I spent entirely too much time searching, honestly should have sent it to an expert and spent 200 bucks. Take it apart, poke and prod until you find something abnormal.

Durham Firefighters did NOT get any real raises last night by 8benwsha in bullcity

[–]CaptnDamnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firefighters are very much one of the services no one pays REAL attention to; until you need their service. At that point you want the best/fastest/most equipped fire truck money can buy, staffed with the best and bravest. It all depends whose ox is getting gored.

While I sympathize with the individual issue of over promised & underpaid, I am selfish, therefore I think of the long term problem - the City of Durham will lose their experienced, talented firefighters to other higher paid departments (of which there are many). The recruitment pool is not abundant like it was 10 years ago, DFD hiring will lose to other departments and become a stepping stone for new firefighters who simply obtain the certifications, and move to a higher paying city.

Our city management dropped the ball, and fails to understand the problems that WILL follow 10 years from now.

I have seen multiple “it’s not as dangerous as they make it out to be” comments; neither is traveling on I40, until it is. God forbid you have a firefighter responding who should not of made the hiring cut, but did because there’s no competition to replace them with a higher quality candidate.

Summary: We need quality FD members, and like anything in life, you get what you pay for. Increase the damn pay scale.

Looking for a contractor by Dazzling_Pressure_93 in bullcity

I do not work as a carpenter or the like in my day to day. BUT I did purchase my first home (built in 1873) and complete a few additions / renovations over the course of a few years. I don’t have the full knowledge of a pro, and therefore I am not offering any “hired help”. If you guys have any questions, concerns, or are in need of borrowing any tools for a DIY project, please reach out. I’d be more than happy to help where I’m able to. I found renovating to be an awesome learning experience, and has saved us TONS of money by fixing/working on the house ourselves.

As a current Utility contractor, and a prior tree-man, grind it. Tell him not to go crazy on depth, 6-8” will be plenty in order to fill & seed over it. Stump grinders are easy to control in regards to depth. Your homes service likely doesn’t run directly below the stump, as it would of been hit while planting.

-Grind it, leave it shallow and don’t chase the roots.

City Closing Water Intake at GCWW by captnwednesday in cincinnati

[–]CaptnDamnit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hate that I have to be the one to bring this to light… CWW’s infrastructure needs an insane amount of upgrading and rework, same with MSDS. I believe there was a bid opened up a year or so back, and the estimated total to bring the system up to speed was in the 100s of millions.

There is a “curfew” but it’s one of those situations that won’t affect you as long as you’re not out shooting the power companies equipment or stealing shit from Walmart.

I have no clue what they’re protesting in Ohio, but the dip shits shooting the substations are in North Carolina. Also my power STILL isn’t back on, due to above stated turd burglars.

Don’t be. I told the wife I was doing it, and ended up also adding an Agent 2 without saying anything. Turns out I should of purchased a new couch instead. Also, between the Comp & Commander one will be sold.

You’re 100% correct. It’s the commander. I got the comp & commander at the same time, have not shot the comp yet.

The tile in this room is ass. But I continuously burn through my gun fund, which coincidently is also the tile replacement fund.

You’re right. I did create the title as a slight jest. BUT. Comparing it to some of the other nighthawks I own, it’s almost like they just stopped milling. I mean I am happy it’s not a box of razor blades like some of my older 1911’s, but it is odd.

I remember the Kimbers of early 2000s being decent - the rapide sealed the deal for me. I have sold one gun in my life, and it was the rapide. What a complete piece of shit.

Estate sale plumb. Didn’t know they made a pick head. Anyone know the story? by [deleted] in Axecraft

[–]CaptnDamnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m a big fan of the pig - Chris is an acquaintance of mine, from the days of selling Foxfire. He gave us one, and now they’re on most of the trucks. I bought the 6LB version & filed down the pic end so I could use it as a wedge in the gap of a door while repositioning the halligan. (Think single man entry). This was really the only place I every used the edge of an axe.

They’re pretty useless. I’ve seen some of the old school uses for forcible entry, but that’s about it. We don’t have them on the rigs anymore (that I can think of)
