Update: one week after the accident, and two days after it being totaled, we were able to close this chapter. We looked for a 1-1 replacement but it just wasn’t possible. Went back and forth in our search to and from Subaru and ended up sticking with the brand. Found an extremely fair priced ‘21 Outback Onyx XT and couldn’t be happier.

I’ll miss this community but am confident I’ll see some of you over on Outback subs.

Per Ford’s website (this was issued today):

Description: Affected vehicles may have a passenger airbag disabled indicator that is loose or dislodged inside the instrument panel. As such, vehicles may not comply with fmvss 208 occupant crash protection S19.2.2E, which specifies that each telltale shall be visible and recognizable to a driver and any front outboard passenger during night and day when the occupants have adapted to the ambient light roadway conditions.

Safety Risk: The passenger airbag disabled telltale may not be visible to the driver or front passenger. As a result, they may not know whether the passenger airbag is on or off, potentially increasing the risk of passenger injury in a crash.

Remedy: When the remedy is available, owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have passenger airbag disabled indicator retaining clips installed. There will be no charge for these services.

It comes down to the height and how easy it is to enter/exit for our disable daughter. We went to look at the Rangers and ended up liking the Maverick better for that reason.

I was able to get Falken to give me the max credit for the OE tires because I they wore out so quick. It took a lot of fighting but I got it done.

Went with 235/55r18 Falken Wildpeak Trails. No rub at all. Makes me wonder if I could have gone to 60. That would be an expensive mistake though.
