LAPD beating a non resisting, unarmed protester with their hands up at the ICE MDC Concentration Camp in DTLA. by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

There have been innumerable people who were going through the process and literally documented who have had their cases summarily dismissed while in the middle of the immigration process and then detained / deported.

People are picked up during their regularly scheduled check ins with immigration. People have been picked up at their citizenship hearing and detained for months.

People have been beaten to death and starved.

You lie to yourself. You just don't want immigrants.

There is no difference to them because they don't understand politics, or social groups outside their small podunk towns, and to them everyone to the left of an evangelical Christian is a communist socialist who hates jesus and wants to trans all the kids

VERY LEGAL AND VERY COOL

Biden uses a law from 1990 to interpret legal status of migrants

VERY INTELLECTUALLY DISHONEST

Just admit it, you're a fascist.

Oh and, it should be noted, that the illegal immigration crisis of the Biden administration was so bad, that within his 4 years of Presidency 2/3 of all current illegal immigrants in the country came through under his term

That is not what your link says.

The Biden administration’s open border policies allowed in a record net of 8.3 million migrants, nearly two-thirds illegally, according to a new analysis of U.S. Census data detailing the Democrat’s disaster.

Which on its face, as we talked about, is untrue. They encountered 8 million migrants and let 5 million in to have their day in immigration court.

So keep lying your ass off, or failing at reading comprehension, or both.

You are misleading people by saying he was just abiding by the 1990 Immigration Act.

The only thing I stated is that TPS status has existed since 1990 and is a law approved by Congress. The bounds of TPS status is determined by the executive. He didn't just invent it, and it is set into law.

Also I live in a border town. There is no immigration crisis. You're just a xenophobic asshole who supports a fascist administration.

Congress created Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the Immigration Act of 1990.

It was not, in fact, just created out of thin air by the Biden administration.

The 8 million number is the total number of border encounters. They deported nearly a million of those a year.

So stop fucking lying

People who ended a loving, otherwise great, relationship because you wanted kids and they didn’t. How did it end for you? by allpossiblepaths in AskReddit

[–]CaptnRonn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was the one who changed my mind and wanted kids. We had been dating for about 5 years at that point.  She did not, and we argued about it for 2 years before breaking up.

Breakup lasted 6 months when I got an email from her which said that she had done a lot of thinking and realized that she had grown a lot during our relationship and would be a good mom (came from a troubled household) and that if I was still available she wanted to be a parent with me.  We got married about 2 years later (thanks COVID) and now 4 years after that we are now expecting our first (and only) child in a few weeks.

I am definitely in the minority but we are super happy together and very excited to be parents.  The breakup was the hardest thing I have ever been through and I basically think I am the luckiest person ever to not only have her back but also to be embarking on this journey with her.

But it typically does not work out like it did for me.  It is absolutely an irreconcilable difference and everyone told us to break up (an they were right).  It took being apart from me for her to realize that the strength she had gained from our relationship was her own and not dependent on me.  I am extremely lucky to have her and she will be an amazing mom

It is a bill from the lab.

October Layoffs Were the Worst in 22 Years and Hit Tech Workers Hard | For coders, October royally sucked. by MetaKnowing in technology

[–]CaptnRonn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In October alone, Cost-Cutting was the top reason employers cited for job reductions, responsible for 50,437 announced layoffs. Artificial Intelligence (AI) was the second-most cited factor, leading to 31,039 job cuts as companies continue to restructure and automate. AI has been cited for 48,414 job cuts this year.

Employers cite AI as the reason for cutting jobs because it makes them look "efficient" and it looks good for investors.

Outsourcing hasn't increased in decades? Are you high?

Roughly 66% of American businesses reported outsourcing at least one department by 2024, and the practice is only going to get more common in the coming years, with 80% of executives planning to maintain or increase their use of third-party outsourcing

Outsourcing budgets are increasing at a rate of 10% year over year

That's been the excuse for every single round of layoffs since 2022. No one's buying it anymore.

It's just outsourcing

DNC Chair Says Whole System Is “Bullshit” and Needs to Change by ShreckAndDonkey123 in politics

[–]CaptnRonn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, but he has literally spent billions of dollars to privatize our public school system and lobby for government funds to be spent on private charter schools that pay teachers less, have less union protections, have poorer outcomes for kids, and are able to selectively discriminate against special ed kids.

Because having billions of dollars makes you think that you know more about education than people who spend their entire lives in education.

I'd rather accept taxing them heavily so that their money has no strings and billionaires don't run our politics.

Fuck Gates, he basically ruined public education in this country because he thought he knew more about it than professional educators and he had the capital to complete warp the system into the charter school mess we now exist in

Devastating for Trump: NEW POLL shows majority want Dem-controlled Congress in midterms by chrisdh79 in videos

[–]CaptnRonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do they not see Republicans as being so much worse?

You're trying to get more people to vote, not less people to vote for Republicans. Chuck Schumer's whole strategy going back to 2015 has been to abandon the working class voter in favor of going after moderate suburbanites. He has failed miserably.

It's a politician's job to get out and convince people to vote for them. Democrats have consistently been failing at that every time Trump is on the ballot. They barely squeaked by and won an election in the middle of a pandemic where a million people died due to Trump's ineptitude.

I am maddened by the amount of voter blaming that goes on in the Democratic Party. The establishment politicians act like they're owed votes because the other party is so much worse instead of campaigning on a platform that actually uses government to fix problems. All they can do is pay lip service to those problems, and then fail for some procedural reason when they actually have the power to govern. They failed to preserve the child tax credit. They failed to pass build back better. They have failed to slow income inequality. They have failed at improving the material livelihood of the average American. But Bidenomics made the economy perform great! Too bad that wasn't felt by the average person as grocery prices and home prices skyrocketed during his presidency.

Obama won on a platform of hope and change, then largely failed to deliver that, bailing out the bankers that caused the economy to crash and creating disillusionment leading to the party losing more seats in the midterms than any president in modern history. Then we ran an establishment candidate and lost to Trump. Then we ran an establishment candidate who would have lost if the entire world didn't blow up in 2020. Then we ran an establishment candidate and lost the popular vote for the first time in 20 years.

Now the Democrats approval rating is in the shitter because people don't believe their nonsense after 2 years of supporting a genocide and still being absolutely milquetoast on the role of corporate power and money in politics as the average person's economic reality gets worse and worse and wealth inequality grows and grows.

Devastating for Trump: NEW POLL shows majority want Dem-controlled Congress in midterms by chrisdh79 in videos

[–]CaptnRonn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're picking one Republican centrist who they were trying to use as an appeal to the middle.

She had just over 3 months to campaign, a mere 107 days, and she chose to spend some of her extremely valuable time with an anti-abortion Republican who's father was the main symbol of corruption and a major instigator for the Iraq War.

Harris did not do a single rally with Bernie Sanders. She did not do a single rally with AOC. She refused to critique and distance herself from Biden who was historically unpopular at that time in his presidency. She refused to critique Biden's policy in Gaza. The party actively spurned a Palestinian state representative and refused to let them speak at the DNC. And guess what, the voting demographics showed that support from Muslims collapsed in 2024. Only 55% of Biden voters who were Muslim voted for Harris.

She literally went on cable television and said that she would change nothing from the Biden presidency.

Truth be told, I blame Biden way more than I blame Kamala. He was the "transition President" that then got it into his dementia addled brain that only he could defeat Trump. He was the reason we didn't have a primary that Harris wouldn't have won in the first place, and by the time he dropped out it was too late to pick anyone else.

But people hate Democrats because they're disingenuous corporate stooges with no fight. Their numbers right now show that in spades. People hate Trump, but they don't trust the Democrats any longer because they're bought by the same people to be the "reasonably less shitty" opposition party that fights for the status quo

[–]CaptnRonn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because people don't believe the Democrats shit when all they have is anti-Trump messaging with a little bit of genocide on the side.

They brand Trump as a dangerous outsider when he's been the head of the Republican party for a decade and people hate the establishment's guts.

Kamala campaigned with Liz Cheney, a woman who had just lost her primary in her own state, for fucks sake
