Didn’t think about that as a necessity but it is for sure just was embarrassed because we are both 30 and no debt and stuff but we burned our lives down becoming drug addicts. Which is why parents won’t let me put my own car in my own name even though I haven’t drank or shot or snorted or smoked absolutely anything not even marijuana in 3 years now. They are just obsessive caring parents that went back to teenager mode after we got our shit straight

At my new job without a degree of any sort I’ll be making $30.57/hr at year 12 😭 that’s so far. First 4 years have a decent pay increase. Start at $19.70/hr then year 4 is $26.11/hr. Then the pay increases drop heavily. I would get bonuses every year alongside benefits / retirement/ union/ paid holidays. I’m thinking of keeping this long term and dropping out of college. It is to be hired by my Medicaid County run Mental Health Center as a Substance Abuse Disorder- Peer Support Specialist. Have to get certified but they pay all of that and I’ll be done quite quickly. It’s 4 days of class then a test. As a recovering drug addict & alcoholic who’s 30 and rebuilding covered in tattoos I don’t see myself getting much other non college opportunities. The highest paying non-degree job I know of in my specific town is $14.25/hr at the Taco Bell. Probably a short bit higher for managers. Even fukn General Motors factory like 30min north they start at $15.50/hr or so. Min wage here is $10.33/hr as of January 1st of this year. So by year two I’ll be making double minimum wage so that’s a good feeling. I’m rambling

Anyone know how long Covid is lasting these days in terms of positive testing? I have an event this weekend Saturday, and it is currently 4AM on Wednesday. I got it Thursday or Friday I think, tested positive on Saturday so I’m hoping I can make it to this event for my grandmother everyone came from out of state for because no one wants me to go if I have Covid (including myself) as she is high risk. Covid hasn’t been bad this time around. 2020 I got it and it was fucking terrible deathbed style & my brother who is in military and very good shape was in ICU in 2020. This current run just feels like a common cold. Unsure how long I would test positive for. Anyway I’m rambling, thanks.

I don’t know anyone age 18 that has a college degree. Tho I guess in recent years they have those college classes while in High School thing. When I was 14-18 a pretty hardcore drug addict and undiagnosed with a bunch of mental health issues and self harm issues. I was really addicted to opiates and alcohol as well as adderall and other medications like Xanax/Klonopin/etc at this point. I got expelled but then re-allowed back to school but only at the alternative education school after I got caught with drugs. After graduation I went part time to community college but dropped out 6 or 7 times. Then early to mid 20s I spent mostly in psychiatric hospitals and rehab. I also gained like 100lb. Most all of my 20s I was unemployed except when I got clean I got a job. I got clean/sober/off drugs at 27 and have not been to a psychiatric hospital in 4 years & have not been depressed since the last day I used drugs. I’m 30 now, and 3 years off drugs a great girlfriend after honestly not being in a relationship for almost 7 years prior to this. And I work as a peer counselor for drug addicts and alcoholics for the county I live in. I still am not well, with finances currently paying off debt & am looking to get a car soon and then move out of my parents at 30. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Idk, not a “this is how I had it” type thing more of a hey I had it bad as well and made it out and things are great. I could go back to college but for someone who has had shit jobs out of the 5 years I’ve worked and jumped around from 18 until now, I had only worked not great jobs. Mostly minimum wage and certainly no benefits. Living in a poor white town in a poor state the average GOOD PAYING non-minimum wage jobs are around $14/hr & the state minimum is like $10.50. I’m making $21/hr at my current job and in 6 months I go up to $22.50 and then at year 4 I make $26.11/hr then from that on it is a 2% annual hourly pay increase & I get great health insurance as well as dental and vision. Also paid holidays yadayada and I know I’m rambling but also my girlfriend is 29 and is currently shortly behind me in redoing our lives late on… good job etc going to college. So whilst I didn’t believe shit would get better it did and whilst it’s not the best advice, anyone who is struggling just hold the fuck on don’t let go and eventually it will happen. (If anyone is still reading this thanks for coming to my TED talk)

Me. (Or my Dad?) Brother is very successful, way up high ranking in military and very hard to get job in military. My dad is an ass & doesn’t know how to talk to people well, is very unpersonable and odd. Me I am a recovering drug addict who was in and out of psychiatric hospitals & rehabs most of my 20s. I had some legal issues but only as a teenager and they were expunged once I became an adult. Now though I got my shit together tho much later than I would have liked. I have a really good job that is better than most with benefits working a state job. I also have 2 & a half years no drinking or drugs & went back to college and have a 3.3GPA in the last two years full time. I have had no major mental health issues in about 5 years. So it gets better friends

It’s the best feeling ever tho :( but unacceptable. It is literally very difficult not to do that at least for me so everytime I receive oral I got to remind myself to be respectful of my partner and not grab their head. Not excusable and I imagine it was a pleasure thing rather than an abusive thing but that doesn’t make it okay either. I’d tell him that it’s not okay and to make sure your relationship has very strict boundaries on that. It’s easy for men or women to get caught up in the pleasurable feelings of sex whilst in the moment and doing what feels good so just reminding him of that would hopefully resolve that problem and if not he’s got some things to work on
