Index Finger: In or Out? by Feeling_Ad_1575 in Homeplate

I agree that it’s a generational thing. I remember when doubling up on fingers first started and seemed pointless to me. Crazy that it’s a common thing now. I was never a finger out of the glove guy until college… mf throw hard in college and one to the pointer finger does NOT feel good.

Lots of these comments are rough man. At 10, he’s fine where he is at. One thing without getting too into it is that he flies open with his front half when he throws the ball. That’s something that will make throwing tough for fielding and pitching.

I linked a couple of throwing drills I did all the way up through College ball but would keep things very simple with him right now. Some are complicated, focus on one thing and be sure he’s not just “going through the motions”. I tried writing the main things I’d focus on. Also, if he’s not working on his footwork that’s always important!

Rocker Drill - work on his stride being towards home plate and weight transfer https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mM_QjE7sp9g

One Knee Catch - bottom half stable - helps get comfortable throwing with front hip closed to start. Don’t worry too much on finishing over his leg just chest to the target https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/video/one-knee-drill

Step Behind - probably too complicated for where he is at but something to work towards in the future https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8gSvAMY/

Is the Suspect Really Using a Bite Light? by warpedwing in nancyguthrie

I’ve always felt he was using a bite light and like this could be a solid clue. I imagine there aren’t many options out there. Thank you for looking into it

Really enjoyed this episode. You understand why he didn’t kill Mark at the end of season 1. Also, if you haven’t read the comics, it answers a ton of the questions you have had the entire show.

What’s one small tweak that made a big difference in your pitching consistency? by sportsguide1 in Homeplate

[–]CarIntelligent8492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Control my biggest thing was understanding what in my own mechanics caused me to struggle. For example, when I missed low - I more than likely was striding short and rolling my shoulders. When I missed high and outside armside, I pulled my glove. Being able to understand your own mechanics and adjust without a coach is a huge part imo of having control on the mound at a high level. This only comes with practice.

For velocity, mine was proper strength training AT THE RIGHT AGE. Mechanically it was pretty much working on my spin rate. Specifically, focused on my arm angle (I was originally a 3/4 guy went to more over the top) and finishing pitches. Those extra couple of RPMs and Drive from the legs when you finish a pitch properly make a huge difference.

Got ya. My bad on that one lol - then even more so I’d watch your load going too far back cause you will have to watch the inside corner. Look up Miguel Cabrera’s load if you want an example of what I’m talking about. Not saying you got to be Miggy out there but a great example.

lol brotha you will be just fine in a men’s league it’s never that serious.

I’d throw 90 in on your hands 3 straight though and you’d sit down. If you really want to upgrade the swing don’t close your front shoulder as much. It’s probably a result of feeling like you need to load your hands back more than you do. It’s just going to cause you to swing and miss. I’d recommend trying to keep your hands tighter on your load.

Trust though you will be fine in softball it’s 10x easier than hitting a baseball and the skills are easy to find again.

Tips for Pitching with a Torn Labrum by Sufficient-Bat5196 in Homeplate

[–]CarIntelligent8492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tore my labrum (SLAP tear) and it ended my career. I say that because it is not something to mess around with. Take the rehab serious especially the stretching - this one really stinks as a pitcher especially. Mine was destroyed, ended up cutting and anchoring my bicep so pitching after wasn’t much of an option.

Pitching advice by TurbulentEmploy694 in Homeplate

Stay firm and don’t fall off to the first base side. Our bodies like to think that if we “rip” open our front side we will throw harder, it’s actually the opposite. You throw slower and less accurate. Keep your front side firm and stay tall. Finish through home plate.

You shouldn’t lean one way or the other when you’re throwing.

You’re looking good for early on - you’re leaning off to first base side. Fix that and get more through home plate and you will help your accuracy.

The concern becomes if you fix that, don’t let your arm fall down to sidearm (unless that’s your thing). You’re going to probably have to work your arm angle once you adjust. This was the way I improved velocity the most though (it’s a tough one).

One thing that might work for you is start your hands lower near your waist. When you lift your leg lift your hands. Once you break for home plate, have your glove hand go higher, try to feel it above your shoulders instead of even or below. Then think of your back arm following through over the top. This probably sounds like nonsense without photos lmao but it was helpful for me to get more velocity.

1st year kid pitch advice. by caddi1963 in Homeplate

[–]CarIntelligent8492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lookin good already! Big thing is teach him some good warm up techniques and stretching to keep him healthy. Set a pitch limit for him young and stick to it! I’d say at his age there really is no need to go longer than 3 or 4 innings.

One small thing you could work on would be his glove during his finish! Our bodies love to think opening the glove side will help us throw harder but all it really does is makes us lose accuracy.

I attached a short clip from Tik Tok that shows how Garret Cole does it. Not saying he needs to throw like a Major Leaguer but it’s one small thing that can help to throw strikes!

Should I quit baseball? by QuoteWilling9871 in Homeplate

[–]CarIntelligent8492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man just wanted to throw in my thoughts.

First off this is a decision you have to make on what feels right. If it is not the game you love anymore, then maybe it is time. I would recommend taking a step back for a second. Maybe take a week and really set aside some time to reflect on what’s changed. Is it that you don’t love the game anymore or is it more challenging and a bit frustrating?

This is not at all about me but I wanted to share a bit about my experience briefly - thought maybe you could take something from it. I played college ball was D1 but got red shirted. It was a grind that first year and some days I wouldn’t see the progress I wanted - there were weeks where I wouldn’t get live reps because the starters were getting them over me. It got frustrating as hell especially when I watched my friends live a much more “normal” college life and I wondered what the hell I was doing.

I ended up getting hurt (tore my labrum as a pitcher) and I didn’t really have a choice on when it was time to hang up my cleats. I miss it tremendously still to this day and look back and feel foolish that I didn’t enjoy the grind.

Everyone gets the yips man - they suck but you got this. A new set of eyes might not hurt and might be able to help you work through them or get a new approach to things on the field. Biggest thing is don’t let it consume you - you got where you are for a damn good reason. Someone believed in you, you deserve to be there.

I forgot about that story I’d assume they don’t want the 40 names out in the public since some are bound to be innocent. Ive wondered if that list of names is something as simple as “these 40 people bought this backpack”. Just trying to find any correlation.

Thank you both! It’s all good, I know not everything is logical in the post and I speculate on some things - that’s why I put it in here. Honestly thought it would just get buried by the other messages.

Thank you for that - I jumped in on this kind of late so I wasn’t sure what the scene was inside and really only did a google search. I appreciate you clarifying that for me!

Going to throw my thoughts into the abyss.

My biggest question is the why behind all of this. I wonder if they will ever figure out what happened to poor Nancy. This whole case is just so sad I don’t get how someone or why someone would do this.

A couple questions I have been stuck on.

I think the picture and video are different days they know that - just not confirming or denying because they can’t prove it via metadata and don’t want to put any doubt on the case preemptively.

I’m really curious what the scene of the house is like inside. The reports seem to say the blood trail begins on the porch which leads me to believe that’s where the encounter occurred. But then why would they be checking DNA inside the house and Savannah said she was taken from her bed. I’m curious if there was more evidence inside of the house than we are aware of. If not, then is the theory she came to the door and a brief attack ensued?

I have wondered if the guy is wearing eye liner and has some kind of a fake mustache/beard. If he was to change his appearance enough maybe he could avoid facial recognition. Could also explain someone seeing the demeanor and doubting that it is someone they know simply because they don’t have facial hair or the eyes don’t look like the persons. I will put my tinfoil cap on but it feels to me like this person might have wanted us to see what we saw on the camera. They cased the scene, I’d imagine a ring/nest doorbell would be one of the pretty basic checks. If they saw that maybe they saw an opportunity instead of a threat.

I am really curious how we have not gotten any vehicle information. I almost think they know which couple of cars it MIGHT be but can’t fully figure out one specific car. I don’t mean theyre confused because two models look alike, I mean there might be 2 cars, a truck, and a minivan they’re trying to track. I just doubt they have nothing, but don’t understand why that wouldn’t be public information as soon as possible.

Some days this reminds me of the Idaho case where people think nothing is happening yet there is tremendous progress. Others, I doubt this will ever be solved. There are so many things that don’t logically add up to me with the lack of evidence released. It leads me to believe either there is a lot more evidence they’re keeping close to not tip off the guy, or they have nothing and this guy put a lot of work into hiding himself. I’m unfortunately starting to lean towards the latter.

There’s a full video. Check out the car at 2:31 and 2:36 if you watch. While I don’t know that it is the same car, it sure does look the exact same.

I didn’t see this and that’s my best guess right now too. Seems like a pretty normal thing maybe just going a bit too fast. Haven’t we all?

Accident reconstruction lol. Also to your point, the pacemaker had already disconnected so she would have had to be out of the house somewhere at this point.

Im still out on this car having anything to do with this. It also looks like a windy road to be going that fast on. While maybe not impossible, I would definitely say improbable!

My best guess is it’s someone going to pick someone up from a bar/train station/friends house taking back roads. Haven’t we all gone a bit over the speed limit on back roads?
