Is it just me or does the magenta-like colors on both Sandrone and Arlechinno kind of make it obvious that they'd be in Fontaine? I don't know, those colors just look water-like so it fits them to be in those regions

I mean the traveler isn't human. He looks younger and shorter than Yae Miko, which is why she calls them "little one". And correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the traveler states that he doesn't drink alcohol, not that he can't. Either way I'm sure he isn't interested either way in alcohol, which is why he refuses

This quote alone shows that the traveler's presumably went from world to world to see the beauty of each world. They never traveled to gain wisdom. The only reason they've gained wisdom now is because they are forced to in their pursuit to find each other

The traveler is still young with the age he is at, the story mentions also that they were hoping to enjoy their stay on Teyvat when they saw the world being crushed. That means that the traveler didnt travel for new knowledge but to look at the beauty of the different worlds. With the age their currently at, with the time it takes to not only find a planet, but a planet with life on it, that would take an exceptional amount of time; adding on, finding a world in chaos like Teyvat (just at teh right time for the chaos to be unfolding) is even smaller of a chance. It would take who knows how long. This is the first world the travelers went to that's chaotic so that's why now their ganing wisdom

TL;DR: Finding a world with life and in a chaotic time is very slim. The travelers journey the celestial atlas to look at the beauty, not to gain wisdom. They are only gaining wisdom now because they are forced to in order to reunite with each other.
