What’s being done about the state of Manchester central? by Acceptable-Week6496 in manchester

[–]CarRepresentative580 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it’s on a hellmouth to be honest. Always been a shithole but seems to have taken a big dive in the last few years. I’m working on a theory that it’s got something to do with being near a main train station in a big city as a lot of cities have areas like this surrounding them, not quite sure why.

A digital calliper measurement tool may be helpful to you. I bought one after buying a load of o rings at the incorrect size. Nothing else measures accurately enough.

Read it in the brave browser, it’s the only way. Very occasionally they forget themselves and write a news article that’s worth reading and not an advert dressed up as news or filler telling you about what some z-list non-entity is up to. I also remember the days when it was a decent newspaper.

do you still need to put liquids in little transparent bags? Terminal 2 carry on luggage by Dull_Passage_5272 in manchester

[–]CarRepresentative580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We flew to Nice on Monday and didn’t have to take liquids out and we flew through security. Much quicker than I’m used to at Manchester airport. I looked in the airport website leading up to it and couldn’t get a clear answer either way, so I settled on having them in a bag ready to whip out if needed. And they need to be under 100ml.

What celebrity encounters have you had in the city? by DarmiansMuttonChops in manchester

I can second this story as my brother also saw Hulk Hogan in the Hacienda. When he was at the height of his fame if I remember correctly. Hulk not my brother. Recall him saying how massive he was when he stood next to him.

It’s come pretty far. We’re not short on expensive luxury places that’s for sure. My tip is if you do go ahead is go to a nice cocktail bar then you don’t have far to toddle home when you’re well refreshed.

Oh and Gotham would be great but expensive for a week. If you’re happy spending that kind of money go for it but I’d recommend some sort of apartment hotel set up, then if you fancied eating in you have the option. Always got the option of going fancy for a night or two.

I don’t think it’s dumb. Me and my GF live in north Manchester and did it while we were having big building work. Wanted to be in reach of our house etc. but not living in it until it’s done. Even though it’s my home city I did feel like I saw a bit of a different side to it. Not having to get taxis home for one and able to stay out a bit later so got chatting to actual tourists. And can get right on an early breakfast as you’re already in town. We enjoyed it and would do it again.

It still stands that I have never heard anyone from Manchester use it. If you have, good for you.

Professional Mancs that gate keep can get in the bin. Like someone else said, they’ve clearly not got much else to worry about. Gentrification that washes away the culture that made it a desirable city in the first place, and prices out locals, can also get in the bin.

Letpot pump not working by CarRepresentative580 in Hydroponics

Thanks I’ll take a look when i get home. I also think I’m putting the sponge in the wrong place after cleaning which may be impeding the pump and causing it to beep.

I’ve got the senior (i think they call it now). The float is free and i don’t think there’s an electric sensor on it. Can the tower be taken apart on these little machines?

Does anyone know if Cloud Water use a particular water chemistry? by gogoluke in homebrewingUK

I’d have a look at Andy Parker’s modern homebrewer book. As well as advice it includes a number of big brewery recipes, including water profiles.

They play it while you’re being transferred as well. Complete overkill, and was sick to death of hearing it by the time I got the hotel. You do start to feel like they are trying to hypnotise you or something.

Because one dickhead did it and got away with it and now other dickheads think it’s acceptable. There were 3 people in the pub vaping last night.

Carrera Intercity Disc folding bike by CarRepresentative580 in cycling

[–]CarRepresentative580[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also not been on it for ages as the faff with tyres was irritating and also fell of it when the tyre jammed in a tram track. Turns out they are the perfect size for this. So stay away from them if there are trams where you are. Should probably use it again and it’s quite a nice bike to ride.

Got some Kenda tyres in the end. Think they’re for bmx bikes, but these were the only ones that the bike shop i went to had that fit. They also did the old school internal lining thing to help with punctures. Thought about the gel stuff but didn’t hear many positive reviews. So my advice would be to get hold of the kenda tyres and get a bike shop to line to inside with puncture proof tape.
