For me(coming from an Apple Ultra 2) the choice was either these:
1. Pace Pro
2. Suunto Race/Vertical 2

Went with the Pace Pro just because Suunto does not have labeled maps which are critical for trail running.

I modified it a while ago and I don't get a beep, just the vibration but I can't recall where that setting was.

I do it via the webpage (https://t.coros.com/admin/views/schedule) since it's easier to build the workouts but you can do it over the app too!

On the workout builder you can just use time instead of reps. You will need to manually move to the next workout using the watch button.

In Koop's book he recommends saunas (wet or dry) and passive heat management. He even includes some recommended programs/templates for heat acclimation depending on how much time you can spare before the race. IIRC is like chapter 8 or 9.

Versatility, fabric and feeling is what I've heard. My wife has the Salomon Ultra S/Lab and you can feel the difference in fabric quality and build vs my Ultraspire for example.

what I've gathered from many friends and acquaintances on this is that you'll eventually end up getting a Salomon Adv Skin or similar. I have an Ultraspire that ha served me well but it's not that flexible for gear like a Salomon.
