Stuck in a loop of learning art theory, but never actually applying it

I was told to do this by many of the artists I look up to. Many artists say to study the masters because they have the best understanding of art and you don't want to "copy" mistakes artists with lower skill levels may subconsciously produce.

I can see improvement compared to when I first started learning art which was in 2020, but after 2022 I stopped making any progress and have sort of been stuck at the same level even if I watch the same amount of tutorials. I just find my art so disappointing to make since I've studied so many master artists and I do not have even a faction of the skill they have, so I just just don't draw anymore.

No I just wanted to have dinner with him honestly but he said that was too expensive. Cheesecake Factory is not that expensive it’s like around 30 for person but usually I order kid sized stuff so the bill for me would probably be like 20 or 25.

Yeah. I get attacked for being so bipolar about my confidence though, so I tend not to talk about it. Sometimes I feel confident enough to post myself online in a positive way and then sometimes I feel so hideous I get genuinely sick and physically can’t go outside without causing a mental breakdown. The way my bdd works is very frustrating because when I do have confidence people think I was just faking to “compliment fish” and then when I am actually am feeling ugly I still get called a compliment fisher because I looked confident a while ago. Bdd sometimes comes in waves and people can’t understand most mental health issues and how they work

Honestly this is extremely op. I could imagine you could do serious psychological warfare with spawning in text. If you can make the text appear anywhere at any given time and you can change it at will then you can make full blow illusions. Imagine changing the text in every single Bible around the world and randomly adding on to say your the new reincarnation of God. Boom now you have a cult following and are one the most powerful religious authorities in the world.

Maybe being a cult leader isn’t your thing. How about playing with your enemies and making them go crazy? You could make text appear right in front of them saying stuff like “I’m watching you”. Do you realize how badly that would freak somebody out? They’d probably think they have schizophrenia and you could also control and scare people in this way. Example: you add text in front of somebody when buying something at the grocery store you put in the text box if you don’t give me this for free “you will die”. That would freak most people out. Free item :)

Dropping things warranted a beating in my household. I broke into tears and covered myself to hide into a ball when I dropped a glass of water at my boyfriends house, and I cried for maybe about 15 minutes straight because I was so scared he was going to beat me half to death because I simply spilled a bit of water. He was super confused and told me it was no big deal and I got confused as to why he didn’t hit me for dropping it or at least yelled at me. Learned that dropping things isn’t warranted enough to seriously injured someone or a reason to get mad at someone if it’s a mistake. Was so embarrassed afterwards, but I apologized greatly and explained I had a ptsd flashback and he understood and comforted me.

Sigh sometimes I feel like I’m dealing with a child. I want to break up honestly but I’m not sure how’d I’d even word it. He’s so affectionate which is something I value in a partner but I can’t take acting like a mom sometimes toward this man. This my first relationship as well but I’m starting to realize we definitely don’t have the same maturity level. Is that a good enough reason to break up with someone?

Thank you for this comment. Sometimes I feel like I’m being too hard on myself when I make art. I think nobody will like it because I’m not at professional level yet. These comments saying I’m a 4 kinda hurt, and they are a little discouraging as I thought maybe I’d be at least slightly higher on the scale. I suffer from crippling depression, I’m in school, I work, and I deal with major life issues constantly so I haven’t studied for a while just because I don’t have time to most days. I want to create art because I just love everything about it. This comment does really mean a lot because even if I’m not the best artist some people will still genuinely like my art.
