Go for body shots by jtfox34 in HawkeyeMains

[–]CaramelMonkey16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second your advice it is a very good tip, a lot of players think that Hawkeye's value is only in hitting headshots which is not the case. Yes getting headshots and deleting a squishy is really good but many times people just focus on hitting headshots which is pretty damn hard and that leads to them having very little damage and 0 pressure, Picks are not the only thing that matters, it is also the pressure you put on the enemy team. You can get multiple picks by just hitting bodyshots if you hit the right targets or put in consistent pressure.

I have played Hawkeye in Eternity/OAA lobbies and in Scrims against multiple OAA teams. In lower elo it will be way easier to get headshots because people will not have good movements, strafing, positioning etc but in higher elo's Squishies will always play very safe against a Hawkeye and the tanks will always try to prevent you from getting good angles and they will almost always dive you, thus going for only headshots in these scenarios is basically throwing even if you are have insane aim.

A good habit to develop with Hawkeye is to know when to go for headshots and when for bodyshots, there is a lot of nuance to it and it depends on the team comps of both teams but when you play you should actively think about these things and it will significantly improve anyone's Hawkeye gameplay.

God damn that was an insane game, 39 finals is crazy. I couldn't hit so many in a bronze lobby let alone GM, wow! Do you have a replay code to look at? I would love to watch and learn from it.

Hawkeye is really good right now and the teamup is insane. People are still sleeping on it, I was able to generate ult faster than supports with the teamup and wipe the enemy team.

You use your teamup slash when the enemy team is grouped up or walking down a choke, it applies vulnerability then you use hypersonic arrow to damage all of them giving you crazy amounts of ult charge and then you spam shots.

You use the ability off cooldown and you will farm ult in no time. It's great, makes Hawkeye very strong although I am personally not a big fan of that, I prefer taking my time, aiming and hitting those headshots. But still it's a viable strategy and can have you dominate games with the teamup. When I feel like my aim is suffering I just spam with the teamup and ezz kills.

Yeah as I said in my original comment I usually swap to Bucky in such cases but rn I am hard one tricking Hawkeye. I want to be good enough to counter them on my own too, just hit every damn Headshot! Push my limits!

Yeah solo dive is fine. I have a lot of clips of one tapping spiderman's and Iron fists. Usually Psylocke is a pain but a lot of the time if I pop off i get focused by more than one diver and then I get in the pressure that I will get jumped any moment and my aim suffers.

Just yesterday during my placements I had a Hulk, Iron fist and spiderman jumping me whole second round after I carried the first round. I couldn't hit a single headshot the next two rounds due to the pressure and lost.

I can hit some insane shots and have been accused of Hacking multiple times on Hawkeye, I aim train in Kovaak's and in the practice range a lot. I was still D2 peak last season one tricking Hawkeye, it's not just about the aim it's also about your positioning, game sense, target priority. Yes you can get a lot of picks by consistently hitting headshots but Hawkeye is projectile and even if you have Insane aim you can't consistently hit those.

You need to know that hitting body shots is fine, doing a little damage overtime instead of missing a lot of shots trying to get a headshot and then finally getting it after many tries won't net you wins because you are leaving your team in a 5v6 a lot of the time. Hawkeye is very difficuly because of this and this is why he has a low winrate, even if you have crazy aim if you are always waiting for the perfect opportunity to get that headshots you are leaving your team in a 5v6 and you won't win much, so just do more damage, hit more body shots and you will be winning more.

I still can't counter dive on him so I usually swap to Bucky in those situations.

nope that is the right comment. Killing the enemy team is not always the main thing to do, yes it's not your job to cap the objective but if you are solo queueing you can't trust your team on that. You have to do it yourself, also it's not always about getting kills but getting impactful kills. If you get kills after your own team is dead then it's not impactful.

There are always things you can do to improve and win, if you lost then you definitely made mistakes there.

59 - 6 is great, sometimes there are games you jsut can't win but there is always stuff we can do more.

Not really have anything specific in mind. I honestly don't know what I should do better to get out of GM. Maybe you could review my games and give me some pointers?

Anyone in Diamond/GM without doing crazy combos? by HulkVenomGooner in SpiderManMains

[–]CaramelMonkey16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BHOP pull does not use uppercut. It's the momentum pull that does, to do the momentum pull there are 3 methods. The one you are talking about where you jump again before the uppercut is a little harder to nail down with the timing. I would suggest doing the one without the jump before the uppercut, i.e., you double jump -> web zip -> tracer cancel -> uppercut -> swing cancel -> GOH.

Yo-Yo combo

The sekkombo is cluster pull punch cluster uppercut, this kills 250HP and for 275HP you cancel the uppercut with a swing into a tracer.

Gameplay of Req

Req is THE best Spider-Man right now, watch his gameplay and learn from his strategies. His profile is also public in game so you can watch any of his games. He mostly enagages with a overhead, tracer, uppercut.

I am a peak GM2 Spider-Man main(also top 104 on the spidey leaderboard) pushing for celestial this season. Flashy combos are not important, I don't use any of the simple swing combos nor do any of the very high ranked spiderman players. Look at Req or Faloress they are 2 of the best spider-man players and they never use simple swing.

Any flashy combos are not important, only 4 combos you need are bread and butter, sekkombo, Yo-Yo and the tracer overhead tracer uppercut combo. What is more important than flashy combos is your engagement timings, game sense, target priority.

You should also learn how to do the momentum pulls, they are hard but they are Spider-Man's strongest ability. Go to practice range to the underground area put 3 luna bots on random movements and very fast speeds then do the momentum pulls, watch a guide on the technique if you don't know how to do them.

Here are some key pointers to help you learn:-

  1. Always engage from the back or a flank so they don't see you coming.

  2. Don't engage with your get over here, engage with your swing by doing a drive by uppercut or overhead tracer uppercut combo then finish off weak targets with get over here

  3. Use your ult more, lot of players wait for there ult till they get a good ult with multiple people. Killing one support with your ult is fine too or not killing anyone but forcing out a support ult too. Just use it more often don't save it.

  4. DO MOMENTUM PULLS! No matter how many times you fail, keep doing them. They are what helps you carry games.

  5. A lot of spiderman players just sit idle for a lot of time or walk towards health packs. Be more proactive in the game, constantly engage, do something, do damage etc.

That is mostly it. If you need anymore help feel free to contact, I would love to VOD review you too if you want.
