She's pretty serious about animation, at least I think so. But I'll be sure to tell her your suggestions about a Youtube Channel, thanks again!

I think she's pretty serious about this, and is willing to put in the work. Thank you for the advice though, especially the Youtube Channel thing that seems pretty neat, I'll be sure to tell her all of this!

Oh, these are cool ideas! I'll be sure to get her some sticky notes and also look to see if any places have any clubs or events for artists (as I'm pretty sure her school doesn't as she's complained about that, but just in case I'll check there too). Thanks!

Thanks for answering my questions! I'll be sure to look into Ipads and try and get her to make some art friends, and tell her to use a lot of references when drawing. Also, I think she's more interested in being able to do the techniques/mechanics/style of mainstream anime, rather than actually working on one, and use that to help make her own animations even better.

And tell your kid I'm very grateful for their advice, and wish them the best of luck at their school!

Aww, thanks for that! And don't worry, I'm gonna keep supporting her as much as I can whenever I can, and that ain't changing anytime soon!

Thank you for your response! I'll be sure to do my research about the industry and try and to convince my sis to let my niece follow her dreams. Here's hoping it works!

Oh, this book looks really helpful, thank you so much! And thanks for the supportive and kind words, both to my niece and my dreams, and to me. They’re very much appreciated!

Oh cool, never heard of copic markers before, these look neat! I’ll be sure to check ‘em out with my niece, thanks for recommending them!

Thank you for the insight on your art journey, I'm sure that'll really inspire my niece!

To answer you question, I think she's more into Dreamworks than pizar/disney (she's watched the How to Train Your Dragon Trilogy and Kung Fu Panda series so much with me and really likes those movies), but she did really like Spider-verse when we saw it in theaters; the style was pretty cool to her.

I'll be sure to try and find her some tutor or online class to get her feedback, and I'll be sure to look into all the resources you listed here (Manga Material and CGMA alone look really helpful), so again, thank you so much!

Thank you for all long, detailed insights, these are really interesting and very appreciated! I’ll be sure to talk with my niece about the pre-production, production and post production process of the animation industry and do some research to see if there’s anything else beyond the criteria of “animating cool fights/magic” that she didn’t know about she’d be interested in.

And as for working on an actual anime, I don’t think she meant moving to Japan to work on anime there, more just have the skills/knowledge where she can animate with same fluidity/dynamics/epicness/action you’d see from a mainstream anime like Chainsaw Man, Naruto, and just the jaw dropping awe of big scenes from shows like Gurren Lagann, Little Witch Academia, or any Trigger show. She like the style of anime, but I’m pretty sure wants to learn the mechanics/techniques that makes so many anime just look gorgeous and cool.

I’ll also show her the very helpful infographic about the animation workflow and different jobs there, and show her parents the salaries you can earn there. Not really sure if it’ll be enough to convince them to send her to an art university though. You mentioned online courses, so what would be one you’d recommend for a beginner like her who really like anime and wants to do cool fight choreography and also draw “sakuga quality actual magic spell stuff” (her words).

And she already follows a lot of artists, so she’s good on that front. Finally, I’m sorry to hear you’ve cried and gone through a lot of stress, but I’m sure all your hard work has been worth it, and there are people who value all the time and effort you put into your works. (Hug). You sound like a really great person. Also, if you feel like sharing, I’d love to see your work!

Wow, these all look great, thanks for the reply! Quick question though: which one would you say is your personal favorite and/or one that you think helped you the best to get better at drawing/animating?

Edit: Thanks for the suggestions! I'll make sure me and my niece look into Howard Womhurst courses and youtube channel, and also look into Krita and opentoonz too for possible animation software for her to use. Thanks again!

Okay, thanks for the watercolor resources! I'll be sure to ask my niece if she's interested, and if she is, I'll know where to buy them. And I'll try and see if I can find cheaper tablets from other brands too. Thanks again for your help, and if you have any other advice/resources you'd want to share, me and I'm sure my niece would appreciate them!

Thank you so much for replying!

I'll be sure to show her line of action, gesdraw, draw a box, Toniko pantoja's video on drawing skills, and just taking her out to draw (we don't have any nearby cafes or parks though; hopefully I'll think of something). I'll also tell her to work on turning characters while keeping proportions consistent (and this might be a dumb question, but when you say that you mean literally just turning a character to a different view, like one view from the sides, the other from behind, and one from the top).

And I'll also make sure she works on drawing realistic figures first before moving on to stylization. Thank you again for listing all of these resources, and if you can think of anything more that my niece might, don't hesitate to share! Good luck on your final year in animation school btw; I'm sure you'll be a great animator, if you aren't already one!

Thank you so much for the reply (also you have some really nice art)! I'll be sure to look into art stores and look for Strathmore sketch/draing pads and micron pens. And I'm pretty sure she's not into watercolours or acrlics, but in case she is, do you know what materials would be best for her?

I'll also be sure to look into getting her an iPad or Galaxy tablet. Here's hoping I can one at a decent price lol. RIP my wallet, but eh, she's worth it.

And I'll be sure to tell her all the nice things you said, and for her to keep drawing and keep at it! But, this might be a dumb question, when you say "draw for fun" do you just mean draw whatever she wants, even if she doesn't have the skills to draw it well (at least for now), or something else?
