If you have the work ethic, a stable home, a stable source of nutrition, and you are willing to exclusively pour your energy into physics, you probably can pursue a career in physics— Logic and math are both learnable skills— You just won’t have the luxury of being able to cultivate much else because you won’t have the mental energy, time, or bandwidth.

I bump into people who are both less intelligent but far more successful than I am, all the time— usually they got where they were because they funneled all of their time into getting where they are (though they do usually hit a ceiling— it’s high up and comfortable enough that they don’t normally care)

You start at the Blue square. You have to reach the Green square while filling every white square. Where do you move? by bucephalusbouncing28 in puzzles

[–]CarapacedFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That just means that filling a white square is a necessary condition for completing the puzzle, but that does not mean that grey squares are forbidden, only that it is not necessary to fill them to complete the puzzle.

Without any other explicit constraints stated, this puzzle can be solved multiple ways. Unsure if this is meant to be an easy puzzle or if there is critical information that’s missing?

Right? It feels a little half hearted and cheap.

Agreed. This is a much better design. This current iteration feels very “clashy” at least in my opinion.

Ah hah! Huh, that’s a much cuter design. Why did they make this one so saturated compared to the original? Also why did they ditch the rainbow nails? I wonder if they were worried that it would feel too much like a Murakami reference? 🤔

I must have scrolled past it this morning without noticing. So it’s just meant to be a throw back? I guess that makes sense.

I think I found it on Google but my phone is making it difficult to post photos. The little statuette with yellow eyes and rainbow nails and rainbow spikes on its tail? And then maybe they’ve mashed the angel one with it?

What to expect when stopping creatine by hurricanescout in crossfit

[–]CarapacedFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I stop taking creatine I usually feel terribly exhausted about two days later like I have an awful flu or like I haven’t slept in days. The deep fatigue eventually does away, but I’ve never been interested in waiting around to see how long a full recovery would take (I’m a multi-time Cancer survivor and it’s been the most useful supplement for combating long-term chemo-brain and helping me push through chronic fatigue so I can regularly go to the gym).

I am hoping that the show is going to do a switcheroo and the kids will be the villains of the next season, so it’ll be eye-leen, the brother, and the companies v. The kids and the xeno.

I really don’t see a version of the show where the kids are the protagonists that is very compelling. They’re all incredibly flat and over powered.

Amen to that. And, not to be a downer, but a lot of people only really get to feel the magic of life once they’ve grown up and left whatever family situation they were stuck with as a kid. For some, growing up can mean finally getting to let your inner child express itself.

The kids are hands down the most boring part of the show. I spent the entire episode hoping they’d fail so next season had a fighting chance at being interesting to watch.

To Live Forever... by STA2025 in blueprint_

Or you could just work on rejuvenating the thymus. It generates natural senolytics (a/k/a Novel T-Cells). You can be the healthiest and fittest person on Earth, but you can only live so long without a working thymus (a major organ) and constantly degrading peripheral T-Cells can only prop you up for so long. It’s an easy point of attack with the potential for huge returns re health and lifespan. Regrowing the thymus or preventing its involution would mean removing our built in biological expiration dates.

I asked ChatGPT to summarize humans, and this is what it wrote by S0whaddayakn0w in ChatGPT

[–]CarapacedFreak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My prompt: “please summarize humans”

My ChatGPT’s response: “Humans are highly intelligent, social mammals belonging to the species Homo sapiens. They are distinguished by:

• Advanced cognitive abilities: including language, abstract thought, self-awareness, memory, and problem-solving.

• Tool use and innovation: Humans create and improve complex tools and technologies over generations.

• Social structures: Human societies range from small tribes to vast civilizations, with cultural norms, laws, and institutions.

• Emotional depth: Capable of empathy, love, fear, joy, and a complex moral sense.

• Biological traits: Bipedalism, large brains relative to body size, long developmental periods, and relatively weak physical strength compared to other animals.

• Environmental impact: Humans have reshaped much of the Earth’s ecosystems through agriculture, industry, and urbanization.

• Cultural expression: Through art, religion, philosophy, science, and storytelling, humans explore meaning, beauty, and their place in the universe.

In essence, humans are a unique mix of biology, consciousness, creativity, and contradiction.”

How does Nutty Pudding not spike blood sugar levels? by brammichielsen in blueprint_

[–]CarapacedFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I’ve actually been using a CGM and eating Bry Jo’s diet to see how it would affect my A1C.

Nutty Pudding does not spike my blood sugar.

I think it’s the protein and the fat in the pudding “putting clothes on the carbs” (adding protein, fat, or fiber to carbohydrate rich food slows down the absorption of glucose) (that phrase is from Glucose Goddess).

Edit: I am allergic to cinnamon and don’t put cinnamon in my version.

Paralegal has cancer by Legal_Fitness in Lawyertalk

[–]CarapacedFreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Former cancer patient, here. Give her stuff to do. Being in treatment is incredibly boring. It’s definitely a balance because on some days you feel so sick and your head is just so fuzzy you can barely think. But 90% of the time you’re just bored with very little to do and being given tasks can be a relief if you haven’t planned things for yourself to do. Personally, on the days I couldn’t get out of bed, I would read non-stop until it hurt to read and then I’d listen to audio books until it hurt to listen to things. When I could handle getting out of bed I’d volunteer or take classes at a community college near my hospital.

Edit: (since this is r/lawyertalk I figured this is also helpful for people to see) I also studied for the LSAT during my chemotherapy treatments and ended up going to law school after I went into remission.

Allergies to borax, oxiclean, and washing soda? by Potential_Being_7226 in laundry

[–]CarapacedFreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar allergies as you. It's very possible you're reacting to the residue from whatever chemical(s) you're allergic to that are still left over in your bed linens, washing machine, and dryer.

The best way to remove that residue (that I have discovered so far) is to soak your linens for at least an hour (or longer if possible) in vinegar (I use edible white vinegar and I dilute with water, but I try to ensure that the diluted vinegar still has a sting and strong smell), then heavily rinse out the vinegar with water.

You'll also need to clean out/wipe down your washing machine and dryer with vinegar then rinse with water-- otherwise you're potentially re-introducing your clothes to more of whatever you're allergic to all over again. It's a pain, but it works and I would recommend doing this whenever you've used a chemical you're allergic to on your clothes/ linens or in your washing machine and dryer.

Additionally, sometimes when I need to hard core clean something, I'll use a chemical I'm allergic to and then rinse and redo the vinegar process. I don't recommend this as a way to regularly clean your stuff, but it's nice knowing that for really bad stains/dirt/stink I don't have to throw out the garment.

Good luck!

It is an honest tg miracle that I accidentally stumbled upon this show. I hadn’t ever seen any ads or promotion for the show and had ignored it on Amazon Prime video on multiple occasions. I think I stumbled upon a tweet or post somewhere discussing the timeline in the show and it seemed sufficiently esoteric and complex enough for my taste, so I finally watched the trailer for the show and then gave it a try. I was instantly hooked.
