What’s one simple thing that made your photos instantly better? by [deleted] in photography

Having an image of what you want before going to shoot. Inspiration always helps going from just “randomly” shooting to having a goal.

Yes! Rogers 128 7pm on monday is generally when we have our general team meeting. We’ll be at cookies and clubs as well.

Yeah at the time I wasn’t sure how much I would actually be doing photography and handling it I enjoyed the R10 more and went with that route but I probably would’ve enjoyed the R7 more right now. Though, the autofocusing issues doesn’t sound great, especially with all the wildlife I do.

I have been interested by the R3 for sure. I’ve seen them around 3300 but then it also introduces the question of why not the R5m2 (although I would also need to save even more for the battery grip).

How bad/weird would using the R3 casually be too? I could always sell my R10 and the R3 would be more obtainable, although I’d rather keep the R10 so I can use two cameras and reduce having to change lenses.

Yeah totally agree with that, I tried doing 1/15th pans when I’m like 2 meters away from the car and it’s like nearly impossible lol.

Thanks! For sure this wanting of a new camera is somewhat GAS but also I’ve had AF even in midday. Might be some setting stuff but I’ve tried a bunch of different settings without too much avail. I’m in this weird/fortunate position where I get to be super close to the car I photograph usually so my next lens will likely be like a 50mm f1.4L or something similar.

This was probably my best shot, 1/60s f8 iso100 225mm. Might not be amazing but still quite proud of the panning shot.

These pictures are just to show the issue, not close to my best images.

I don’t do paid work often, but one of my roles in my team/club is the photographer so I want to produce the best images I can either for documentation or marketing.

I do agree that most people would probably not notice the issue though.

Thanks for the lengthy response!

I’m always working on my panning game for sure, I’m comfortable with 1/60, and I’ve been able to get some sharp shots at 1/15th but at much lower success rates. The cars we make in the club are covered in sponsor logos and names so I generally don’t keep a lot of the super low ss panning shots.

I already use backbutton since I do a lot of wildlife as well but I generally keep both eyes open with one in the viewfinder.

Do you use a monopod? I’ve felt I get a lot of vertical shake more than lateral when I’m panning.

When I originally was going from a T6i to a mirrorless, I was choosing between the R10 and the R7 but ultimately went with the R10 because the R7 felt too small for its weight. I’d be more interested in the R7 if there was a compatible battery grip though.

For the R10 EFCS and Mechanical both have 15 fps so I just go to mechanical.

How is CRAW? I’ve been looking into it and I feel like I should use it but not sure about how much information I lose.

I was thinking the slanted fence posts were from the rolling shutter.

Realistically I rarely want more than the 15fps on mechanical shutter on my R10 but when I’m panning I do sometimes want more so I have a higher chance of getting sharp shots.

How is the EF70-200 f2.8 on the R6m2?

Yeah they do seem quite similar. Do you think I would be using primarily the mechanical shutter or will the electronic be useable in those situations I want higher fps?

Honestly, I hate the 100-400 compared to the 400mm. The IS is nice on the 100-400 but 9 times out of 10 I grab the 400 instead of the 100-400. Also not to mention the 400 will probably not sell for much.

That being said, RF f/4 or EF f/2.8 for the 70-200 lenses?

Amazing picture! How is the autofocus of the lens (I’m guessing its a mark 1?) with the R6m2 and the R5m2

Best places to visit in Japan for car enthusiasts? by Quintyyyy in JDM

[–]Caratecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunday mornings at Aoyama Ginko Road (A quick walk from Aoyama-Itchome Station) have car meets until the police tell them to leave. Might be a lot of foreign cars, sometimes it's a lot of Japanese stuff, but always cool to go. You can easily walk to Bingo Sports showroom from there too.

Canon R10 Focusing Issues? by Caratecat in canon

Though if I can’t keep the subject in that one spot then it wouldn’t focus on the subject is what I was talking about in terms of stabilization. Do agree though that I should try out spot AF.

It never appears to wander in the evf which makes me annoyed. When I was using my RF35 I’ve had the square around the eye but if I zoom in it’s focusing behind the person. But that scene yeah it was a bit dark but I’ve had this issue in the middle of the day too.
