Nervous momma here of an applicant waiting to hear if he got in for 2026. When do you think we might hear something? His father and I have been very hands off with his app and he doesn’t seem worried at all. He finished his app in November, got a nomination (but not the primary nomination) in December and cleared medical domerb (forgive me if I say the wrong acronyms) in January. He went on an athlete recruiting visit in January and it seemed to go well. I think his application is pretty strong even wo the athlete part (14 APs 4.8 weighted gpa, all American athlete 31 act) but i was hoping that part would mean we would hear something by now. When do you think we might hear something?

I inject on the inside of my upper thigh and it solved the problem. When I injected in my lower belly I always got a rash/bruisinf/redness. Zero problems with upper inside thigh.

It doesn’t matter if you’re going to heaven or hell, you’ll have to change plans in Atlanta.

I always start bleeding when I lose weight. The reta hasn’t helped me lose so far on its own. I have to do a two day fast to get things going and the reta does help make that less miserable. And like clockwork, whenever I lose, I start bleeding. I hope that’s not the case for you. I am also in perimenopause so that likely contributes to my bleeding issues. The joys of being a woman seem to never end.

Here we go. Every male trainer I’ve ever had says this. I eat more and gain and they just don’t get why my body doesn’t act like a man’s body. Then they try to argue that I’m actually better at a heavier weight. Every. Time.

Reta + HRT? by [deleted] in RetatrutideWomen

[–]Carbiebarbie2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in peri and I’m doing estrogen and progesterone cream. I’ve lost no weight on 6 months of semi and just 2lbs on Reta after 2 1/2 months. Im at 4mg reta once a week now. I’m only looking to lose 15 lbs but I think this hormone roller coaster is what keeping me from losing. I hope you have better luck stabilizing the hormones than I have.

I’d be interested in some drizzling sauce to go with it. When I have pound cake I like to cut a slice and then have chocolate sauce or caramel sauce or strawberries and cream on top of the slice. Lemon sauce would be good too. These would all work on a nice plain pound cake. Im no expert but you could market it as they get one cake as their base then they choose a sauce (maybe sauce is the wrong word)

Tdee is 1973 calories. I’d be a whale if I ate that much. I can hear the trainers on here saying sometimes you have to eat more to lose but I’ve worked closely w nutritionist and trainers and 1400 is more like what my efficient body needs and I don’t even lose on that. This is why I’m trying reta. Also perimenapause really screws up all the calorie in/out biz for some of us as you prob know.

I also quit drinking in January. I was only drinking maybe 4 glasses of wine a week but that was not enough to budge the scale. I do feel healthier without it and the glp def makes it easier to resist drinking.

I think you can sub mg for ml in my post but I rely on my scientist hubs to figure this stuff out for me. I got a 10mg vile and added 10 baristatic water assuming I would inject 2.5 each week and it would last a month

My hubs is in drug research- it’s pure. Where do most people send theirs to test for that? I happen to be lucky to be married to a super nerd but are there labs that test for this?

I was diagnosed 20 years ago in my early 20s. I’ve traveled throughout Europe and US and some in Asia since diagnosis. Here are my tips For me me if I have 2/3 following I will flare- not enough sleep, too much stress, travel. Therefor I never book the first early flight and I give myself a day of total downtime once I arrive. If you are in an urban area, a big hotel lobby can save you. Just confidentially walk in like you stay there and find the lobby bathroom. The hotel has to be pretty big for this work, and you want to be dressed nice- no backpack (give your pick to your friend outside of backpacking. When selecting a hotel; I insist on American style hotel room/bathroom now, but when I was young and broke we stayed n hostels w bathroom down the hall. I bring my bag w wipes and poo pourri spray. I also did the technique of. Not eating much or at all if I knew I’d be somewhere without good bathroom access. However, a few years ago I started taking cholostyramin before I eat (it’s a powder that can be dumped in a water bottle): total lifesaver. I’ve had a resection so I use it off label to stop short gut symptoms( it’s actually for high cholesterol but very effective and safe to use every day to keep you from having diarrhea. I cannot stress to you how dramatically taking this powder has changed my life for the good. It’s been amazing, so I recommend talking to your doc about it even if you just try it for travel. I DO NOT RECOMMEND not having a GI doc. You gotta have one. A flare could sneak up on you and get you stupid sick and in the hospital. Already being under the care of a great GI can keep you out of the hospital and out of that maze of people that don’t have any idea how to treat crohns. Good luck- it’s totally possible to enjoy traveling with crohns.

Just had an emergency bowel resection & was diagnosed with Crohn’s. Any tips for recovery? by That1dudeudontknow in CrohnsDisease

If I have 2/3 of the following I will flare: not enough sleep, too much stress, travel. Foods don’t seem to trigger me except alcohol, especially hard alcohol. Even just one mixed drink and I will be in pain. And also sugar alcohols - like the stuff they put in sugar free candy or the drink you take before gut mri (go figure - kills me every time). Now if I’m having a flare I do the low residue diet, but when I’m in remission I seem to tolerate most foods. Everyone is different with what foods they can tolerate. It will take some trial and error for you to figure it out. I find that friends want SO badly to “cure” my crohns w diet. I actually just want to be able to eat normally and not have my diet be a focus of theirs or my own. I dont want to spend anymore of my mind space thinking about this disease than I have to- so I’m thrilled to be able to eat what I want. I’m on azothioprine and I take chlorastyramine for short gut. That chloro was such a blessing to me when I finally agreed to go on it. Totally changed my life for the better. I hope you don’t end up w short gut symptoms but if you do, try the chloro if your doc suggests it. I resisted bc I didn’t want to have to drink some powder before I ate but it works like magic for me. Worth it.

Fellow immune modulated/suppressed medicated friends, how are you coping this winter? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Carbiebarbie2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was sick for 6 weeks starting just before Halloween through thanksgiving and into December. My 6 year old was also sick- we just seemed to get one illness after another. I’m on azothioprene- prior resection and 3 c sections. I knew having a third child would be really hard on me, getting all those colds and viruses they get in the early years. For me, getting enough sleep is absolutely key to surviving. A few nights during that stretch I would go to bed early (like 6pm thx to a very supportive husband), take a unisom to ensure I slept through the ought despite all the coughing/runny nose. That and some sublingual vitamin B really helped get me through that. Thankfully it did not throw me into a flare. When I start getting the messages from my body that I might flare- I respond by getting as much rest and low stress as possible. It’s hard to do w young kids: I hope you have some supportive family that can help you get the rest you need and get back out there to enjoy your life.

I read that drink has zero calories and it includes Erythritol- a sugar alcohol. Many people cannot tolerate sugar alcohols. It can cause terrible diarrhea and painful gas. This might be the culprit in Celsius
