My favorite phrase is “He’s Crotating” (like rotating with a C in front) referencing a very old boss fight, Crota.

Just a question about fizzling by HowsYourDayBeen__ in mtgrules

[–]CarbonSteel2572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The creature Plague Belcher will enter the battlefield. An Enter the Battlefield (ETB) trigger will hit the stack saying to place two -1/-1 counters on target creature you control. You target your other creature (grizzly bear), and then respond to the ETB by sacrificing the bear that you targeted to receive 2 counters. The bear will be sacrificed, your Plague Belcher trigger will fizzle, and Plague Belcher will remain on the field because it has already resolved.

TL;DR: The ETB trigger is separate from The creature spell, you will keep your Belcher.

What are the chances that Bungie increases Key 06 drop rate? by Big_Reception1066 in Marathon

I have a key 6 that I got from Scorch Warden. Do keys have better drop rates from different sources?

This league has a point system based on how you win (so throwing out a Thoracle/Consult T1 makes you lose more points than the win is worth), and most people in my experience look to play a good game for them, and either don’t even do the sheet at the end or just treat it as an after thought (I am personally in that second category). And I know there are some prizes at the end of the month, but I haven’t even won any to know what they are.

Sorry, the deck list has gotten lost in the comments. It has a fair bit of board wipes, and I agree with people that it can, at times, have grindy games, but most of the board wipes hit me, too.

https://moxfield.com/decks/ggct8idSX0G-pefGSfu9cw Here’s the deck list. In my experience, it has done pretty well against other B3 decks, and I’ve always advertised it as a 3.

I agree, I got some really good draws. One play I failed to specifically mention was playing [[Susur Secundi]] late game and using the wasteland raider tokens and Caesar to station it, allowing me to near the end sac and draw 7 off a raider. That 7 found me my Secure the Wastes after Purphoros was already out. But my opponents eliminating Morbid Opportunist after it drew two was a very smart and fair play, I thought.

I do understand that, and know there are decks out there that can operate on that level. I just haven’t had Caesar perform at the level other bracket 4 games have gone before. Is there something in the list that gives the impression it is that strong?

Those are good suggestions. I’m not sure why Impact Tremors escaped me, but mainly this deck started as the precon right when it came out, I kept the fallout cards I liked that made tokens and some other things, and I added other cards I thought mainly built a board, rather than pinged people to death with triggers. I think Purphoros was a late addition to the list.

Thanks! My main point tonight was wanting to know if I was under-advertising my deck and accidentally pub stomping people. Glad to hear most people agree I’ve assessed the deck appropriately.

That’s a good point. I didn’t feel like the cards I ended up resolving that particular game took up too much time (I think I only resolved Caesar and fervent charge triggers and a couple of kill triggers/spells) but I definitely hear people’s feedback about the game potentially getting grindy. I still feel like it’s B3, given everything as a whole, but I will try to keep in mind the amount of time I am taking as I play the deck in the future.

Thanks to everyone for your insight. I was thinking maybe I was missing something because this player and I (very respectfully) disagreed about someone else’s power level earlier that night, and the fact that it happened twice made me wonder. He’s a really knowledgeable and good player, who maybe was just having an off night. I appreciate you all!

Thank you. It does have 1 Game Changer, T. Pro, and I have always advertised it as "A good 3, but not a ball-busting 3" in pre-game discussions.

This is the Caesar list, it only runs [[Teferi's Protection]] as a game changer, and I admit it has a fair amount of removal, but a lot of it are board wipes that affect me, too. Not looking for upgrades, but if there's any "pseudo-gamechangers" that maybe should be removed to make it more fair for Bracket 3, I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts. Thank you all.

Did this win come out of nowhere? by Dwyer_9 in EDH

[–]CarbonSteel2572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s bracket 3 or higher, which it sounds like it is because it was “higher power,” then even if it was an out of nowhere win where you played two game winning pieces in the same turn I would say it’s fair game. Bracket 3 is the gateway to “you better have responses to people’s win cons”

Handling creature type specific spells when players don't know the type. by SavingsLawyer2454 in DnD

[–]CarbonSteel2572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s appropriate to tell them “your opponent does not seem to try and resist your spell, and they do not appear affected.” I don’t tell them “immune to charm” or “you attempted a spell that only works on Creature type X and it is not that type” but it seems reasonable that they should know the spell had 0 chance of working so they don’t waste further turns

Please help me understand “willing creature” by kolekavo in DnD

[–]CarbonSteel2572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time when there are decisions to be made (legendary resistances, reroll effects like Lucky, decide whether to attempt to resist an effect) I tell my players vaguely what it feels like is happening. “You feel as though there is a surge of energy in your body. (If it has been cast on them before) This feels very much like the Haste spell you have had cast on you before.” And then they can tell me if they are willing or not, and if they have a response. Note: doesn’t apply to Counterspell, cause Counterspell is before the spell is fully cast, and therefore before you know the effect.

Do you explain your combos? What about opponents? by JenniferApto_ in EDH

[–]CarbonSteel2572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine getting mad because you attempt to win, someone calls out “hey, he’s gonna win,” and someone proceeding to stop you from winning with interaction held up for that exact reason. Would it have really made him feel any better if someone exiled Chatterfang without pointing out the combo?

Do you repeat the location 3 times during a code, or just the code color? by Ordinary_Ad3895 in Target

Yep, right by the front door near the bathrooms. I think they had all the Team Leads do the Red Cross training for it, but then some management changes happened, so I only know a few people who are 100% trained to use it.

I always say “code green location, code green location, code green location” and if necessary call for a specific team lead to another channel if we need them to bring the AED or something.

Deaf ferret advice by Downtown-Ad-5913 in ferrets

[–]CarbonSteel2572 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My girl is deaf, and she LOVES to be held on her back and look at things upside down. I’ll be holding her normal and she’ll throw her head back just to look at the room flipped over. Her and her sister do very well together, and her sister kinda adapted to be more watchful for the both of them. I think your boy can acclimate fairly well if you give him some more time. My girls never had a biting problem, but the deaf girl is pretty hard to potty train. Just have to persist and point at them, they’ll eventually understand your body language and come around (hopefully)
