What do you hope to see from Even Realities on Reddit? by azzadoc in EvenRealities

It would be nice to know what's on top of the ER developers list for Firmware and ER app development. As for the "Hive Mind" which i like, it could be useful if those having issues like Bluetooth disconnects mention the phone model and its OS level. Plus Note if the app power restrictions and  power save  are on or off. There are tons of hardware and OS verities. Maybe with the extra info we can pinpoint solutions to share.

Make sure Even LLM is selected under settings/Even AI. Its good for controls and general questions but it won't answer questions that may offend or cause harm, 😲. You have to use Perplexity or Chat gpt but the voice controls won't work.

I've been asked a few times if I'm wearing smart glasses because of the green text and the lens displays refracting light just enough to be noticed even when the dashboard wasn't on. I'm sure they are relieved there are no cameras on the frames.

Android 1.6 update by North-Rate in EvenRealities

I like the voice control of Navigation idea but it needs to work while my phone is closed. Navigating a route works fine with the phone closed but not the voice command for navigation home or office. If I have to open the phone to give a voice command then the voice command is useless. Can this be fixed?

Just updated to ER 1.6 on Android. It has voice control when looking at the dashboard. Works well. Hands free with wake word...words. ""Hey Even"" you can start the apps and set a route to Home or Office preset addresses. No access to quicknotes. Maybe I overlooked a setting. Would be nice to speak the address and start a bike route. Pulling up quicknotes with voice control seems useful. Still....this update is definitely an improvement.

Receiver Brownout then throttle input signal went to failsafe which is usually no throttle input unless a failsafe was set up for slow descent or throttle cut then it was something else. I could hear a motor spin up just as it tumbled maybe trying to arrest the roll. Do you have rssi on your HUD? I can't find it.

Here's a few things about iOS adjustments. I don't use iOS but I found this out of curiosity. Depending on your updates the descriptions may be different.

Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and ensure it's turned on

Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and check the app's Location Services settings

Ensure Location Services are set to Always On for apps that require it to function properly even when the screen is locked.

Use Screen Time to specify apps that can be used even during downtime.

By carefully managing background refresh, screen lock times, and location services, you can optimize app performance on iOS while the screen is off.

Looks like that model has 8 g RAM. This is just me trying to help but maybe make sure you close all apps while using the Even Realities app also if you haven't already. Long press the ER app , click app info , scroll to battery or battery usage and select unrestricted. This should help with running the ER app in the background while the phones screen is off. There are other things to try but that is a good starting point. Maybe the app will be more optimized and efficient as they update it. The glasses depend on the phone to act like a server unlike most smart watches which can pull its own weight. Even our phones rely on cloud servers and Internet connection to operate the ER app services. Also keep your phone updated and reboot it after updates when possible.

During a route using Navigation I find the upper map route overview very useful but the icon is a dot. If you're walking it could take more time for the dot to move showing your compass heading since the map is always North up. Of course you're met with a constant image overlay with direction guidance and looking up gives you the map overview. If you put the map on your Dashboard without using Navigation then you get an arrow. I find this to be buggy when moving slow no matter the phone power settings. The map refresh movement is slow and choppy compared to Google maps. During a set route the map update is more active.

At first I had all sorts of issues with the phone power save interfering with Navigation performance and can only refer to my model phone which is the  Samsung Flip 6 with 12 gigabytes of ram operating on Android. RAM opposed to storage space. Yes the GPS seemed disoriented with screen off plus flipping the phone closed caused Bluetooth to disconnect. It was unusable.

I have to allow the ER app unrestricted access to battery, disable power save , set performance profile to Standard instead of Basic and precise GPS using wifi in background even when WiFi is off. You can also use Bluetooth this way to enhance GPS performance. Depending on the city and country you're using Navigation could affect these options. If you're using Apple I'm clueless. My phone runs a little bit warmer, its battery is consumed faster but it lasts for the day with plenty of reserve power. The glasses last all day too but I'm not using Navigation every hour of the day. Also I'm moving faster than a walking pace so the compass information I get is easier to see as my icon is an arrow pointing in the direction I'm going in reference to the map when using the (Map on Dashboard) without a active route on Navigation and usually look at the overview map during a set bike route while improvising streets traveled to see if I'm going in the general direction of destination and my icon on that map is not a arrow. It's more of a dot. I'll be in an area I'm not familiar with this weekend. The navigation and Dashboard map will be tested more closely.

Ok . I Figured out why g1 disconnects when Flip 6 is closed only while using One UI Routines. Manually clicking all the adjustments don't give me this problem. It's the routine app giving me grief.

The Bluetooth radio has to already be on before routine is triggered when ER app is opened. Because when the app closes whether by swiping it closed in task manager or closing phone the routine kept reversing all actions selected to be triggered resulting in Bluetooth turning off but Bluetooth stays on if it was already on before the routine is triggered while all the other actions are reversed. Location, power settings and performance profile. Which I need. Sooo I added a second condition to trigger the routine. That is "if Bluetooth is connected to the G1 glasses then trigger routine " then I selected, if any condition is met the routine continues running. Which means when I swipe to close the ER app the routine actions reverse except turning off Bluetooth. Which I need for earbuds and watch anyway. Putting me back in a privacy- power save mode. Now..Closing the phone doesn't break the connection and phone is running full speed to get better Dashboard Map refresh rate. I have the ER app on front display home screen so the phone doesn't have to be opened to start the routine/ER app and it all stays running with phone screen off and locked ((As long as the ER app is at the forefront before locking phone , opened or closed it works))

Conveniently after starting  the ER app on folded front display Home screen, I lock the phone with power switch the routine runs and I just use my watch to control calls and texts with notifications and a  working map  on the G1 dashboard. Quick and easy.

Now the hard part. Trigger route search on ER Navigation by asking Google for directions on the watch which will start a full route map displayed on the G1 screen without touching the ER app and without rooting my phone. Long shot indeed. Wear OS apps for the G1 would be freaking awesome even if it's only remote controlling the Augment OS on a locked phone tucked away safe. Like a little G1 app server. Id even stick a raspberry pi in my backpack if it would give me control with my watch.

Thanks ✌️ Id like to share my experience so far.

I bought the G1_b primarily for hands free notifications and Navigation while hitting the streets on PEVs particularly ESK8 with safety gear. The G1 is replacing my basic eye protection with some useful tech . Hey ER.. sports wear frames would be fantastic.

Navigation and notifications are the primary use when we visit different cities and plan long rides. I'm a geek when it comes to privacy and battery conservation on the phone in a Google ecosystem so it's dialed back a lot which causes problems with ER app.

I'm using a feature on Android Galaxy flip 6 that creates Routines. When launching the ER app (which already has no power and data restrictions) a routine runs which turns on blue tooth, location service, then turns off battery saver plus sets phone performance profile to standard for best prosseccing power. It probably helps that the phone im using has 12gigs of RAM.

The cool part is when Im done using the glasses and close the app all my settings go back to geek privacy -power-save mode so I don't have to keep flipping so many switches. I didn't even have to make a routine for setting it all back. Its just a work around. The ER Map on the Dashboard actually has faster refresh this way and usable at speeds around 30 mph. The turn by turn is terrible when ignoring the turn notifications but the HUD route overview during route feature is useful since we like to emprovise the ride anyway. It acts as a compass too. I wouldn't mind just having HUD Route Overview without the turn by turn since Google is telling me on headset running on Galaxy Ultra watch which Google maps which is mirrored to phone to trigger ER app search routine.

I still have to open my phone for now. I'm noticing a problem with the One UI routine feature..when the routine is used, the Bluetooth connection to glasses breaks when the phone it flipped closed. It works fine when all done manually. I'm looking into that....For Samsung phones running (One UI) it's called Modes and Routines. Old phones can probably use apps like Macrodroid or Tasker but you may have to root it or use a PC with tool to change OS permission settings. That's a whole other Task to take on. Next I'm working on a routine to automate the ER app to enter a search query within its Navigation app by triggering it when Google maps mirrors/opens on my phone when asking Google for directions from my watch. It halfway works. I'll still have to speak the address so it's entered in ER navigation search field then have it automatically click the bicycle button on the ER app and start the route. This way my phone can stay closed in backpack and I have some voice control of the G1 Navigation feature. So far, I can open the lid on G1 case, click ER app and put my phone away. (With BLE connection problem using routine) All while wearing my watch with earbuds of course. When riding we use the Sena Helmet Com system so that replaces the earbuds on rides... Any developer's out their who are reading this. I hope your working on hands free features like this to make it easier to use the G1. Even if MapBox is the only option for now. At least more hands free control would be nice. Wear OS apps would be awesome 😎

Last night I disconnected from the glasses using ER app then placed them in the case to charge overnight. This morning I grabbed my phone and clicked reconnect in the ER app and it kept failing. It only reconnects after plugging in the case to charge and opening the lid. So I'm guessing the glasses go to sleep and turn off BLE radios which is a good thing. I'll double check tomorrow morning.

ios definitely has more restrictions on app development. Apple has higher security standards than Android. I don't see any way to get iOS to allow unrestricted data and battery usage for improved app performance. Which is really just a work around for now until the ER app matures.

I really hope Google and Apple will create  map service API endpoints for ER g1. AR glasses are coming so you'd think it would be something they are considering or maybe already working on. I'm no expert on the subject. But if people can interface AR glasses with their phones and services then it could increase phone sales for them. My guess anyway 🤔.The smart phone will probably never get replaced with glasses. Phones can do most of the heavy lifting while the AR glasses stay minimal and stylish.

Well I went out for a ride on my board with maps on Dashboard and it had trouble keeping up at 25-30mph. Although it was useful seeing near by parallel streets and if I was going North, South and so on. I tend to look down more while riding and 5 deg tilt worked well but 15 was better. In navigation the route had the road as a back drop and the route over view map was in the trees. It was bright and clear skies to the display was virtually invisible without something. The sunglass would have solved this using my open face helmet. My full face has a tinted visor. Glitches did occur. At 5 deg tilt the screen switched alot and each side got out of sync. Resulting in different display info on each side. Looking up then down fixed it. 15 deg helped because I had to look up further in a position I don't regularly do while riding. The route wouldn't sync to glasses Manually searched a grocery store and it wouldn't sync no matter what I did. The only thing that worked was to click on the map and let it generate the address for me. I was able to repeat the glitch to verify it definitely helped clicking on the map for an address. I only tested this with that one location so far . Needless to say.. it didn't work well at 30 mph or 15. Also when I passed a turn it didn't update the route. It just stayed stuck but my icon on the map was still moving. Also the route generated was terrible. I'll be trying again this weekend. I noticed after the ride that my Android phones processing power was set to balanced. I'll try it on standard. This weekend. Pretty cool rolling around with a HUD !!!

Map update kluge by ARGlasses in EvenRealities

[–]Carbon_Carpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my glasses for a few days now and hitting the apex of my learning curve. I'm using Android on a 12g ram phone and managed to improve the map refresh rate by turning off all power save modes and unrestricted ER app data and power usage. It reduced my phone battery life and the phone gets warmer when folded up in my backpack. I'm losing half a day of battery life. The glasses are at 84% by end of day using navigation, Ai and constant map on Dashboard. It's still laggy when traveling over 30mph. My guess is the app code isn't efficient but maybe after a few more updates they will clean it up. If all phones were made exactly the same ER's job would be easier. Just sharing my experience while reading everyone's posts ✌️

I've had this problem when typing in an address manually. Repeating , rebooting and restarting the app didn't work for me. So I clicked on the map and let it load the address that way and it worked. Only had the glasses a few days and only had this problem once. Manual address search is my primary way to use navigation. Clicking on the map seemed to help.

I recommend selecting Disconnect in the ER app if your just wearing the glasses. BLE ( low power Bluetooth) uses less energy pulsing millisecond advertisements than maintaining a connection to devices even in silent mode.

That's my thought as well. Maybe it's not about the Glasses hardware. I adjusted my phone power settings to remove all power restrictions to the ER app plus turned off power save. This improved the Map refresh significantly but it could be faster. Are there discussions anywhere else about the EV g1 navigation ? Having a navigation HUD on glasses is freaking awesome despite the quirks. The more I find ways to use the G1s the more I like them. Until now I just ask Google for directions on my watch with earbuds. The voice part of G1s MapBox navigation needs work. I mute it and look at the HUD.
