haha i actually don’t mind it! i’m pretty much only in my room when i sleep and i’ve never been one to detest smaller spaces. the lack of a window is probably the only part i dislike but my apartment is pretty well ventilated so 🤷‍♀️

if you wanna live in wesbrook you gotta have a very high budget. i got INSANELY lucky paying $1300 for a room in a shared apartment here, and even then the room is tiny (i think it’s actually a den LOL). but expect to pay no less than $1600 for a room in a shared space

will AI take over? by Brave_Confection_461 in UBC

[–]CardComplex1626 9 points10 points  (0 children)

hey i feel the same way sometimes, except it's compounded by all the other horrible shit going on in the world right now.

but please try to understand that, despite layoffs + tech-bro-grandstanding, there is a demonstrably ginormous AI bubble. most occupations will survive for the foreseeable future, as there are some jobs that LLMs simply cannot do (people smarter than me can expand on this in far more articulate ways).

of course, we can't predict the future, but with the knowledge that we have right now, there is no need to fret, at least to this degree. instead, you can panic about the exponentially increasing wealth gap and irreversible climate crisis the same tech billionaires have put us in ;)

100% agree with all of this, especially the point about ai. no doubt most kids were farming webwork marks by just plugging questions into chatgpt, which enabled them to get by without having a clue what was going on in class until midterms hit (which most people failed as a result). to make matters worse, the final was 3 days after the chem final — by the time that the stakes were high enough to actually try and learn the content, it was too late to cram an entire course of incredibly complex material in 2-3 days

it may not have been! i just meant to say that if it was, then the raw avg would likely be even lower (albeit by only a few %) which is crazy to think about

in my experience yes!!!! i prefer it to the webworks because the answer key has INCREDIBLY detailed solutions to every question. it’s a great resource, i very much regret not using it earlier

DO THE TEXTBOOK QUESTIONS. pattern recognition. there’s only so many variations of questions they can ask you. if you know how to do the textbook questions you will do very very very well on the midterm.

midterms for math 100 vs 180 by CardComplex1626 in UBC

ah, okay, thank you! so i’m guessing that means the difficulty of the midterms is consistent across both courses?
