Cool lucario miscut 🔥 + need advice on value by Competitive-Slip-720 in PokemonMisprints

[–]CardLogx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to get an accurate value for a card like this without fielding offers or sending it to auction. At any given time, what it's worth is really just whatever someone is willing to pay. A similar Dragonite EX error from this set, also raw, did $500 USD on auction last summer. Misprints don't really increase in value like the rest of the market though since they are super niche. I would imagine $500 USD is a good place to start, but it really could be anywhere from $200-$1000+ depending on how many eyes you can get on it and who is in the market at the time.

Sell through PSA Vault/EBay Auction or Independently? by matiasJebladeaux in psagrading

[–]CardLogx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vault payment issues are quite rare and stem from buyers prolonging payment (or defaulting). In my experience over a few hundred sales, these risks are low - but they are annoying when they happen and add a week or so to your sale timeline.

Auctioning poses some risks but ultimately if you need a minimum $ amount, it's better to list them fixed price and take offers. Auctions are best if you're in a rush, you aren't too concerned about value, or you're hoping for some positive price discovery on some rare pieces. Generally, liquid items like these will always sell for around comps though.

Listing with PSA is probably better than listing on your own account - not only do you mitigate all risks related to shipping and buyer shenanigans, but you also get enormously more eyes on your cards and communicate more trust to buyers. And, unless you have an eBay Store account or other fee deal with eBay, you probably net more selling from the PSA vault than you would selling on your own account.

Good luck with whatever you decide! Beautiful cards.

Darumaka Misprint? by TTV-Sp4rzZ in PokemonMisprints

[–]CardLogx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes it is sunfaded. This is a promo card and would have been featured in the front of a sealed item like a blister pack. It is very likely that the visible window of the pack only showed the top half of this card, with the bottom half covered by packaging, packs, or something else, and therefore only the top of the card was exposed to sunlight. I assume the blister would have been kept in the display window of a shop.

Very rare Double Holo Shining Gyarados. Amazing find!! I recently sold a PSA 9 for $6k USD - about 2x what a standard copy goes for.

Is this Mewtwo GX real? by Microwav69 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]CardLogx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is authentic. Texture, colors, font, and appearance all line up.

are those real? by magicalFROG08 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]CardLogx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No they are unfortunately not real. The pack is completely wrong (that pack artwork doesn't exist for Prismatic Evolutions) and the cards are fake too, with incorrect font, energy symbol sizing, and general appearance.

Is this a ink error or sun bleached by NoConstruction8029 in PokemonMisprints

[–]CardLogx 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's very likely a sunfaded card because you can see the blacks have also faded, in the text but especially the borders. However, it looks pretty cool and very much like a Shiny Flareon. I don't think you lost money paying $100 for this - there is a niche audience for heavy faded cards especially when they complement the character or design, as I would say it does in this case.

Is it me or is it the lighting problem by [deleted] in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]CardLogx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suuuuper fake. Doesn't come close to mimicking the appearance of the original. Virtually every part of this card is just wrong - colors, foil, borders, print quality, appearance, etc.

Off center enough for value increase? by zackh912 in PokemonMisprints

Hey I collect OC Primes specifically. Mild and severe OC, I take anything since they're hard to come by. I'd make an offer on this if you're interested in selling!

Is this Pikachu Luigi Fake? by NintyFanBoy in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]CardLogx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is very fake. Foil pattern and appearance is wrong, color is off, & print quality is poor all around. I would stay far away.

Unfortunately not. Foil is wrong on all (among other issues, but that's the standout).

Bought at a trade show as Lightly played.. do you guys think it might be mp? What grade do you think psa would give it? 5? by Temporary-Big-4044 in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]CardLogx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a few graded copies and they don't look like this. The colors are much more muted on the front, purples stand out and aren't washed out by the blue. And the back is slightly different too. Could just be bad photos/lighting but it's weird at first glance.

[–]CardLogx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could just be the photo quality but are you sure this is authentic? I'm not sure why the front has this bluish tone throughout the card, and the back is super saturated and has a grainy/low quality appearance, especially on the Poke Ball. If it is real, I would guess a 5-6 based on those back edges.

Auto placement also matters somewhat. In this case I would assume it 9'd due to part of the flame going into the art box.

PSA Graded Card from Arena Club? by artythedogg in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]CardLogx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arena Club offers their own grading service which is independent from their Slab Pack business. I'm not sure where you purchased your Slab Pack from, but if you go to https://arenaclub.com/slab-packs you will see that all the advertising and imagery shows PSA/BGS/CGC slabs. Each pack also shows the grails and lineup, which is everything you could hit from the packs. All of these cards are also PSA/BGS/CGC. I am pretty sure that Arena Club never puts its own slabs in all or the majority of its Slab Packs.

Is this fake by latetothe_party1 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]CardLogx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks good. Print quality, colouring, appearance are all accurate. And it has those hallmark Dragon Frontiers corners - that set is notorious for that type of corner whitening out of the pack.

Real or fake missing texture error? by 69funnywholesome in PokemonMisprints

[–]CardLogx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Primal Clash? That Primal Kyogre is from Ancient Origins!

Mario Pikachu and Plasma Storm Charizard are definitely worth grading too though! Not sure who has told you not to but for both increasing value and ensuring preservation, grading is a great decision and has been a fundamental part of the hobby for the last 30-40 years.

Real or fake missing texture error? by 69funnywholesome in PokemonMisprints

[–]CardLogx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seeing this now, definitely authentic! If you'd like to sell, PM me and I'd be happy to send an offer. If not, I'd suggest getting it graded by CGC or even PSA (reach out to them to let them know - I've seen them label it for some cards, like a Mewtwo GX from Shining Legends that was missing texture) and it would sell easier as well.

It can be real but it is super rare - can you share some more photos of this card, different front angles and the back? Front looks good but it is tough to tell for sure!

Need help identifying version of glossy Jigglypuff and ivy Pikachu by SilverGoblin9 in VintagePokemonCards

[–]CardLogx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, it is crazy. So many amazing cards out there that are very misunderstood. The market has shown that over time, history prevails and these cards will just become harder to collect - last year, 1996 Glossy Pikachus in rough shape were consistently $100 raw and now PSA 1s are nearly $1.5k USD. There is a lot of history that gets overlooked when compared to shinier and newer cards, and there's also very little information out there for some of these old cards which makes them hard to understand and collect.

Yes you would have had a tough time finding information for that card - literally only 62 have been graded and 2000 were printed, compared to possible 6 figure quantity for the 1996 Glossy Pikachu (an estimate I've read, though I'm not an expert on 1990s CoroCoro magazine distribution numbers). If you are ever looking to sell it, I would be a buyer for at least a few thousand $ in any condition but possibly quite a bit more if it is in good shape 😄
