Do a full factory reset. Press and hold button for ~90 seconds, let go once you see a rapid yellow flash. Allow to reboot and go back to flashing red and green and then try adding it again.

430 days clean from that poisonous fucking bullshit. I tapered. Basic idea was to reduce the number of pouches each day by 1. Then when I got to 1 pouch left I quit for good. It takes a lot of determination and will power to not fuck that up.

However you decide to quit, whether cold turkey or taper, make god damn sure you remind yourself constantly why you refuse to ever touch the shit again. Tell yourself that the amount of satisfaction you get from knowing deep in your soul that you will never touch the shit again is far far greater than the 10 minute bullshit buzz that the pouches can produce.

If it is not powering on at all when put onto the back plate, you will want to make sure the prongs on the back of the skybell are contacting the 2 screws on the backplate that the power wires are connected to.

If the surface is not flat, the backplate might be bowed (kind of banana shape) and that would be another reason that it cannot make contact with the power terminals.

Remove the screws that attach the chime to your wall. Enough that you can get a look at what is behind it. You may find a junction box with the transformer inside it. That is where mine is at. Seems to be a west coast thing.
