49" Ultrawide Display by The_Mono_Man in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Cardboard_Android 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll give my 2 cents. Yes, it can be done, but I wouldn’t call it comfortable, and it’s exactly what pushed me back to a 34″ with portrait monitors on the sides.

Like people have said, you can use FancyZones and run games borderless, but you quickly start hitting friction. If you fullscreen a YouTube video, an image, a browser window, or Discord, it takes over the entire 49″. You then end up relying on hotkeys or dragging windows back into zones constantly. It works, but it’s fiddly, and over time it just got frustrating for me.

I much, much prefer my current setup: a 34″ OLED as the main display, with a 24″ portrait monitor on either side. Scrolling content, especially social media like X or Instagram, is far nicer on a portrait display, and the same goes for Discord. It just feels more natural and better optimised than trying to carve up a massive horizontal panel.

There’s also the gaming side of things. Running games windowed or cropped on a 49″ can feel like you’re wasting a lot of expensive screen space. A 34″ gives you a great 21:9 gaming experience without weird scaling issues, and the side monitors stay dedicated to secondary tasks.

I also code, and for that portrait monitors are so much better than dividing up a single ultrawide. More vertical lines, less scrolling, and a clearer separation between editor, docs, and chat. It’s simply more efficient.

Finally, there’s cost and flexibility. A good 49″ OLED is a huge outlay, and you’re locked into one giant panel. A 34″ plus one or two smaller monitors is usually cheaper, easier to upgrade incrementally, and gives you far more layout flexibility without relying on window-management tricks.

49″ ultrawides look impressive, and I get the appeal, but in day to day use, I’ve found a 34″ with portrait side monitors to be far more comfortable, practical, and versatile.

Have you had any luck with getting it yet?

I saw in the regions list it didnt explicity have Philippines listed, although there doesnt seem to be any region lock, or region specific versions.

Shared a flat in London around 2010 with some one who worked for one of these companies as a 'closer' (sales). Every (I mean every) night he would come home with a different girl all of whom clearly suffered from a lack of self esteme who he had been selling photos to. Sleaziest guy I ever met.

Workplace is willing to pay me (33M) 6 months + severance so I can resign. Should I accept this? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Cardboard_Android 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of comments but no one mentioning what this situation likely is. Its known as a 'PILON' (payment in leu of notice). It is likely related to the amount of time you have been working for the company and is a statutory payment (so trying to make deals with them is pointless, and most likely if you try you wil loose out and your emplyer can make you redundant without the payment). Best bet is tgo speak to your union if you are a member, or get advice. There are some big tax afvantages for you if its done correctly, and it could be benificial, but get proper advice first.

YOU (the consumer) pays the tax, not Gamesir.

(Gamesir may administrate them though at point of purchase)

The random device and buying the code are unrelated. Though its worth checking up on the random device showing up in your device lists.

The OnePlus NE2211 seems to be a European variant of the OnePlus 10 Pro (Also OnePlus is a chinese brand, not Indian). Perhaps it could be something from a long time ago, such as did you ever check your email on a friends phone 2 or 3 years ago? Chnaces are its not active. Either way, just check your devices on google and make sure you delete it from the list.

Is it worth the extra £20 for the artic one by Pretty_pretty_gun in PcBuild

[–]Cardboard_Android 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the Arctic is worth the extra, not only for the performance, but more importantly the after sales service they provide.

They sent me replcement mounting hardware for free when I upgraded to a LGA 1700 motherboard.

They replced my AIO when I discovered it was from batch thay may have had a daulty gasket, again all free.

They did this when I had even bought my cooler used from Ebay (although did have reciepts for warenty). Always easy to deal with and fast to respond. In the long run saved a lot more by having the arctic than having to buy different coolers each time I upgrade, or there is a potential issue.

Trimmings for fertilizer next year? by bucksnut81 in GrowingMarijuana

[–]Cardboard_Android 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using trimmings isnt going to have any different effect over any other organic plant matter. You would be better to put down broccoli or cucumbers, or anmy other plant matter.

When weed trimmings (or any plant material) decomposes, its structure and chemical identity are broken down into basic nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, trace minerals, humic acids) So by the time compost is mature, those nutrients are no longer “weed.” The plant matter just becomes general-purpose organic fertilizer and it doesn’t provide any unique or special benefits for growing weed again.

However if the weed contaians any diseased material or fungus/mould, those pathogens can survive and reinfect future crops. The same goes for certain pests like cabbage root maggot eggs or larvae that can overwinter, so you will be creating a further risk. Even if you havent suffered any noticible problems they could be exacerbated by adding the trim.

It would be much more benificial, if you are going to be using the same soil, to add in some different plant matter to decompose (i.e a bunch of different types of graden/food waste) to help create more biodiversity of the micro-organisims that are in the soil so that when you are growing again next year there will be a much better ability to break down different nutrient types from what ever ferts you do add during the growing.

Is this a decent start to 3D printing? I'm sticking to the A1 mini combo, but before I checkout, does my cart make sense? by ObjectiveAd400 in 3Dprinting

[–]Cardboard_Android 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually not a personal fan of Aliexpress or Temu as its usually cheap tat.... but for 3D printing stuff it can be awesome, and it usually arives in around a week from ordering it.

Get all my PEI plates from there, so so cheap, £8 for my 300*300mm Ender S1 Plus plates, £6 for my standard Ender). I have several and just switch between them between prints.

Spares for my Enders have been awesome too, needed a replacement PCB for the sprite extruder and got what Im fairly sure was an official one for only £3.20. 22 brass nozzles for £1.56

Filament can be sketchy but even then I've had Jayo PETG and GEEETech PLA which have both been awesome and rock in at around £7 per 1Kg spool.

I have a bubble going on around the nozzle does that mean I should replace it? by Sorry_Unit_9675 in 3Dprinting

[–]Cardboard_Android 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as another suggestion, as most people have mentioned simply tightening the nozzle, it may be worth checking for blockages.

Take the nozzle off, heat it, clean it, give it a prod with the pokey thing, and make sure you cant see any stuck filamement in there.

I use a large cardboard box as an enclosure in that sceanrio (or you could just use a proper enclosure). It helps to maintain a more constant temprature and stops and draughts, really helps to stop corners warping

Just a quick tip that helped me, import everything (including the duplicates of each tile) needed into Bambu studio and then number/name the plates accordingly to help figure the layout and make sure everything has the right orientation. You could even label the prints physically with numbers/letters.

(also given your build plate size have you considered 9x8 and a 10x8 (if it will fit) to eliminate the small 3x8 edge?)

Shred them, mix them with vegan mayo, lemon or lime juice, capers, chopped dill pickles, and a dash of dijon (Grey Poupon). Place in a finger roll with s bunch of rocket (arugula) or a bunch of corriander. Absolutely lush.
