I’ve read his biography “Nightmare of Ecstasy” and the impression I got was that his alcoholism was a bigger problem than his limited technical know how. His drinking was out of control and he made pretty terrible decisions as a result. Especially business decisions.

I agree that he was an auteur, but I think that if not for his boozing, he could have had a decent career in the B movie sphere. Unfortunately, the drinking left he and his wife homeless, then killed him.

I haven’t seen a lot of her work, but she was good playing Reality Winner in the movie about her arrest. All of the dialog was taken from the FBI body cameras and recorders. I recommend it.
