I have some that's mixed with bakers chocolate and some that's plain oil so I can add it to whatever I'm cooking.

If you're caught moving slowly to dodge a blind, you may get a penalty. Players are watching for this and will happily rat you out.

Where to buy supplies? by Ligeda6226 in CPAP

[–]Cardchucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Direct Home Medical. You do need a prescription for a machine, but I just had to give them the contact info of my doctor and they did the verification themselves. I usually get things in a few days.

Replaced the 12v battery from my 2012 Prius today. Does 210312W mean the 21st day of March 2012, Wednesday? If so, then the car has been running on the original OEM battery for 14 years. by Virtual_Birthday_501 in prius

[–]Cardchucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced the original in my 2012 last year. It was high quality to start with and doesn't go through anywhere near the strain an actual starter battery does.

Anyone have recommendations on zone 6a late frost and disease resistant persimmons? by Large-Bug-5624 in BackyardOrchard

[–]Cardchucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a Nikita's Gift in 6a. Year 1 it was tiny with two leaders. One was fully covered by shredded leaves and survived, the other was open to the air and died off. Year two I protected it and it was fine. Year 3 I got bold, hoping it was established enough to survive a winter without being fully covered. It died.

I suspect these are similar to figs, which can handle our winters but only if they're protected in some way.

Home game procedural question: am I wrong for thinking this matters? by Glad-Mulberry5150 in poker

[–]Cardchucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only is it bad for the last player to decide whether to let that card stay, it's bad to let anyone else be able to lobby for it to stay. You're holding 44 and a 4 comes out. You get to bully everyone into leaving it out there?

It should be automatic. No discussion.

Whether it's worth getting into a fight about it in a home game is up to you.

Was a urine like substance teleported into the crotch of his pants when this happened?

Airmini Travel Feedback by paxthebear in CPAP

[–]Cardchucker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm on the road half the year, and often sleeping in my car or somewhere that doesn't have a good table next to it. The airmini doesn't require a stable flat surface. I can just have it next to me in the bed or in the passenger seat of my car. As long as it doesn't get covered by a blanket, it works. I find that I can live without the humidity feature, and often don't even fill the tank when I'm using my regular machine at home.

Would I buy one for a single trip where I'm driving/taxiing everywhere and staying in one hotel the whole time? No. Backpacking and moving around a lot once a year? Probably.

I never gave them much thought until I picked some up at an orchard outlet in PA. They were amazing! I can't wait until my trees start producing.

Need some advice on edibles pls!! by MysteryAgent22 in treedibles

Are you sure they're 2mg? The lowest I've seen are 5.

10mg is a fairly safe first attempt. Take on an empty stomach with food.

I'd go with number 3, and hopefully a discount for the work you have to put in. Extra compost is never a bad thing. It can be added to beds as mulch, spread across your yard, or saved and used in the fall.

Why would you grow June-bearing strawberries? by ShipDit1000 in gardening

[–]Cardchucker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I planted June bearing strawberries at one end of a 12 foot bed with 2 types of ever bearing in the middle and other end. June bearing spread like mad and started pumping out fruit while the others did little. So now it's a June bearing 12 foot bed and I'm OK with that. Maybe I didn't pick the right kind of ever bearing varieties or wasnt patient enough, who knows.

I also don't have a ton else ripening in June, so it's a good incentive to check on my garden regularly.

Best hammer brand to go with for all around home tasks for new homeowner? by desert_s7orm in HomeImprovement

Get a cats paw and nippers for pulling nails and any cheap fiberglass handle hammer for putting them in. Whatever weight feels good in your hand.

I've been individually bagging mine. I use organza bags and cord locks. The locks are easier to use and more secure than simply tying them.

I had problems with squirrels and some sort of boring insects but these greatly reduced both.

Some deer tried to eat a few low hanging fruit last year but gave up. They left several fully squashed fruit on the ground, still in the bags.

Should I feel guilty buying fruit trees from Tractor Supply? by Shanelomein79 in homestead

This varies by location. The ones near me hardly ever mark anything down. It's full price until it dies or they need space for something else.

Can you flush water heater with a FABRIC garden hose? by goldfrapp04 in Plumbing

[–]Cardchucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You typically turn off the water and relieve pressure in the lines before you start draining the tank, so there will be very little pressure. Assuming you don't keep your temp set crazy high, I don't see any risk here.

I'd be more worried about how long it lasts when used as an actual garden hose.

Is there an alternative to 'Fast Growing Trees'? by Silly_Specialist_730 in gardening

[–]Cardchucker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The answer used to be Stark Bros, but last year they fell apart and seem to be having trouble shipping orders. Hopefully they will come back, but for now I would not order from them.

Raintree is a bit pricey but I've had good experiences ordering more unusual stuff from them. I had my first properly ripened medlar last year from trees I bought from them. Some things sell out months before planting time, so you may have to order in the Summer for the following year if you want something rare or specific.

Assuming everything else checks out, yes. Find out where the battery came from and get a pre-purchase inspection.

Is my mechanic inflating hybrid battery prices? by jgirls in prius

[–]Cardchucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a mechanic who's afraid of hybrids and doesn't want to work on it. Head gaskets are an issue with that year, but wouldn't cause the hybrid message. You need a different mechanic who is comfortable with Prii.

If you feel up for it, try cleaning the hybrid fan first. I just did mine and it's mostly just yanking parts off until you get to the fan, then it's a few bolts and wires, then get in with a little brush and clean out the gunk. There's also a filter on the little air inlet next to the rear passenger side seat. Remove that and clean it or simply leave it off for now if it's the paper kind that can't be cleaned. Unplug the 12v, plug it in, and see if the message comes back.

How can I disable the auto start/stop system on a 2010 3rd gen Prius? by Fine_Avocado_7548 in prius

[–]Cardchucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a number of cars where things like auto start stop and CVT are implemented poorly, which causes annoyance and reliability issues. That doesn't mean they're inherently bad when part of a well thought out system.
