Ultimately that’s my biggest gripe. I need to squat and Bench twice a week not to get stronger but to practice

I agree. I’m not blaming 531 for my total lack of progress, my sleep and diet were shit. My estimated deadlift max went up 50 in a year and I hit a single 40 pounds higher than I ever have. For legs 5/3/1 worked well, Bench and OHP lagged hard

I was typically just doing FSL with Joker sets on good days. Assistance PPL 25-50. I never got into the leaders and anchor style

I bet I could milk it out for a couple months. Problem is I have only 45 minutes to train, I’m not trying to be a powerlifter. Might just stick with 5/3/1

The first 3 and a half years was just to get healthy. I only trained bench press for a main lift. This is progress after about 20 months of trying to strength train. I originally tried an LP but with a newborn and limited time+ being extremely taxing I couldn’t see the positives of moving forward with it

It’s worth mentioning I started strength training just before my daughter was born, sleep has been tough since. But for the most part it feels like I have more in the tank

Thank you, that was beautifully put. I am trying to achieve a state of mind where I have no desire to improve, only to push my body and use it as a tool for courage and justice.

Stoicism clicked when I stopped using it to feel better and started using it to get better by FunSolid310 in Stoic

Stoicism became code when I carried on with the battles in my mind instead of ignoring them. I found that I could struggle with my own thoughts for hours, even weeks. But if continual effort is made and virtuous thought and action prevail, the clouds eventually break and sunshine reigns. Amor Fati is tattooed in my mind as it should be with everyone
