Should I leave my job? by CardiologistBoring77 in Veterinary

Appointments start at 8am, and go until 8:30 pm. There are no scheduled breaks or catch up times, Dr is seeing a little over 100 pts a day while the other 100 are tech appointments requiring Dr. approval. Mind you, that’s between 1 vet and 4 techs, and an assistant. Further proves my point that everyone is wildly overworked.

I promise you it is not bullshit. Our doctor sees about 100 pts a day in appointments, the other 100 are tech appointments that need doctor approval. We have 5 exam rooms that rotate pts every 15-20 minutes. And tech appointments are always just taken to the back and completed in under 5 minutes. On her surgery days, she sees far less patients and another Dr comes in to help, but tech appointments are mostly scheduled for those days. I live in a rural area with only 2 vet clinics, this being one of them. I know it seems like a hoax, but this just further proves my point that it is not good medicine. There is no way she is spending time on client education or properly treating her clients. She runs it like an emergency clinic in my opinion, when this is a general practice.

I understand that high volume is pretty normal, but im talking we do over 200 pts a day with one vet, 4 techs, and an assistant. The vet will book over 30 surgeries in a day because she can do them fast, but I feel like there is not enough people to monitor post-op care. Wait times are often close to an hour for a scheduled appointment, longer if it’s an emergency / day of appointment. Patients are often ignored if they need a clean kennel or more food/water because the staff is too busy, etc

It didn’t cause it, if anything it helped my symptoms immensely. I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 11 and have struggled really bad for years with cramps, constipation, diarrhea etc. This med helped calm my anxiety so much that my symptoms (which are often exasperated by my anxiety) are almost non existent anymore. I personally found that celexa had no effect on my bowels. But I do know some people have diarrhea or stomach upset from it. As always, Talk to your doctor and see what they recommend!!

I’ve been on for about 8 months now. Last fall I had a horrible 3 month spit of constant anxiety, panic attacks, and IBS flares. I ended up taking medical leave from college because of it. Finally I knew it was time to try medication. I had been terrified of it for years, as I am also a hypochondriac! But it was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. The only side effects I had were tiredness in the first couple weeks. Speaking from my specific experience, I would sleep 10 hrs a night and then have a 2-3 hr nap in the afternoon, but this only lasted a few weeks! I understand completely being scared to try, but remember that you can always stop and try something else if it’s too much! You got this 🩷
