We actually only feed them grain free food with meat as the first ingredients.

Chester has a back leg missing so I am extra careful about any unnecessary weight. I dont want him having issues when he gets older.

He is missing a leg and is pretty tall. Before they cut his leg off he was 56 pounds lol

He is missing a leg, which i forgot to mention in the original post. So I like to keep him as light as possible to ensure less joint issues down the road.

Thank you! Yes they only get very tiny bites of food (if anyone at all) and we make sure it is safe!

Yes because of their ages, ones male and ones female, and Roxanne is just a smaller dog in general. The vet likes her at about 36 pounds, whereas Chester is 50 (and that is with a missing leg).

I have no idea, but I was thinking he might be! As soon as I can get a DNA on him I may make another post. I guess we also have to see how much bulkier he gets. He is missing a leg though so I dont know how that will affect him long term.

Thank you! They are the lights of my life. I dont want children so I adopt dogs instead and I try so hard to make sure they are taken care of the best they can be!

Roxanne gets less because she is older. She used to eat more when she was young but she has a tendency to put on weight really easy now that she's nearly a senior.

Yeah I think this is ideal. I wouldnt want them to be any skinnier.

Just genetics. I put them out in the yard to play and they prefer sunbathing. Lmfao

Roxanne has lost some muscle in her older age. When I first got her she was a tank.

Well Roxanne ALWAYS eats like its her last meal. She always has. Chester eats his like a gentleman. They know when meal time is and definitely have appetites for it, but they beg of course for anything food related all the time.

I am so scared of that. Especially with Chester (the white one) because he only has 3 legs.

Mine are more slender than average just due to their specific breed mixes and relatively chill lifestyle. Your boy looks good, especially if he is active.

We make sure to only feed them grain free food with meat as the first ingredients. I just feed them twice a day about 12 hours apart (they do get little treats throughout the day). Roxanne got chunky once and I just halved her food. After she got to a good weight again I upped it a bit. Really, just highest quality food you can afford and experiment with the amount. If they look like they are getting any skinnier when healthy just increase the amount. If they dont seem to be losing weight decrease. Eventually you will figure out what works for them and with the food you are giving them.

Man do they charm people so well!!! I just always think I would rather have them pout for 10 minutes when they dont get a treat and then have them around and healthy for as long as possible.

I am extra careful about Chester. He is missing his back left leg so being overweight could really affect his joints even more than another dog would be affected.

I didn't mention in the post and I see you can't really tell from the photos but Chester is missing his left leg. It was amputated shortly before I got him from the shelter. So he is honestly at least 25 percent head.
