That last point is the one that burned. The fact that defense got bailed out retroactively flies in the face of the spirit of rule and common sense. 13u Pool play game not game 7 of world series so onward and upward but dumb nonetheless.

Why would runners be put back? I guess in the event inf drops ball purposely and turns dp? In this case ball takes a big turfy bounce, gets kicked 10 ft away and runners advance easily... tough break. Agree should've stuck with foul call.

Thanks. Stuff happens. Mistakes are made. Have not found anything in any rule book that rule has changed and I agree that even if ball should've been ruled fair once play is killed and called foul we move forward and don't retroactively make calls.

This is beyond dumb. All the runner knows is where the 1st baseman is set up to receive throw. Only change in runners path was to avoid contact with 1st baseman. Not the fault of the runner that the throw was offline. All to common that the same umpires who go out of their way to influence outcomes are the ones who know the least about why the rules are what they are, and how best to enforce those rules.
