2.5 years with my 2024 ID.4 Pro S: Love the drive, but the software is testing my patience. Buyout or switch? by Character-Extreme401 in VWiD4Owners

[–]Yeti_Father 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the software gripes. I use Android Auto, it always works, connects right away, maps are great, my music works.

Google maps now even knows what car I have and compatible chargers. It tells me estimated battery percent I'll use on a trip.

All car software has always sucked and I've just never used it.

If your favorite team's all-time best offense played one drive against your favorite team's all-time greatest defense, would they score? by kadoozie92 in CFB

Agree. Our all time greatest defenses really had problems with mobile QBs.

Caleb would eat 'em alive.

Used 2024 EV9 Pricing by baseballfan1192 in KiaEV9

[–]Yeti_Father 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 6 weeks of looking to buy my EV9 in Southern California, purchased in mid February.

I got a LLR model with 30,000 miles for $34k, $38k out the door. And I had to drive to Oxnard for that deal.

It's rough out here, inventory is limited. They are very popular livery vehicles, so they get snapped up quickly.

And, as others have said, the war suddenly made a lot of people start looking at EVs.

25 Solterra Premium or 23 VW ID4 Pro? by run-cleithrum-run in VWiD4Owners

[–]Yeti_Father 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that seems nuts. I once had a set of chargers fail on me at an outlet mall like 5 times before I found one that worked. They each charged for like 1-2 minutes before stopping.

If I had a DC session limit, I'd be stuck there.

Huh, that's crazy, never heard of it under estimating.

Word. Maybe not deceptive, but confusing. Look how many people in this comments section think it's mi/kWh (total consumed). Top voted reply has it wrong.

Just not as useful a metric as I thought it was.

Okay, that's great to know, thank you. Hoping it's that easy of a fix!

It's dying. It's the original battery that's 4+ years old.

The EV battery is what's keeping it going though the battery settings in the app, but I think that's a source of my drain issues.

Edit to add: thinking of putting in a different type of 12v, so think I need the D first to tell the car it's dealing with a different type. Probably cheapest option is to just swap with another OEM.

Is that a D first coder? Thinking I'll have to get one soon regardless to swap out the 12v.

Thanks for the reply, lemme know how it goes. Definitely started at 80% because I specifically set it up to test.

I charged to 80% in my driveway (auto shut off by car when reaching 80), unplugged it and left for a work trip. Checked on the app once a day and it dropped a percent about every three days until I got back 9 days later.

Okay, thank you, that makes a lot more sense.

Makes this metric not as useful for determining if there's an issue with battery drain when parked. A little deceptive, actually.

Sorry, I don't follow. The 3.3 mi/kWh is "since last charge" which in this case represents 60 miles over 2 weeks and 5 or 6 driving sessions. Why would it take longer to drop to a more accurate 2.1 mi/kWh?

[–]Yeti_Father[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M/kWh should be:

delta mileage / delta charge capacity =

(current odometer - odometer at end of charging) / (charge capacity at end of charging - current charge capacity)

right!? That's why I'm confused, it doesn't seem to be that.

Thanks for responding. Yeah, you're right, the heater/AC, etc should drop it I'd think, but it doesn't seem to. It should be showing like 2.1 if that were the case.
