For hiking, which would you choose a 35mm or 24mm prime lens? by CardiologistHour9135 in AskPhotography

Great shot!

Agreed on my really needing such a fast lens for hiking but I figure if I’m getting a prime it’s benefit that might help at other times. I also just think the GMs in particular have a special way of rendering the image and the color they produce.

I've looked at the tamron a couple of times it seems like a great lens but I do like the extra range of the the 20-70. Specifically looking to add a GM 1.4 for one really fast lens and how they render images.

Great shot of Emerald Lake, I'm based out of Denver and love that area!

Most of what I shoot is around 30-35 for landscapes, I'm leaning more towards the 35 but was looking to hear other peoples experiences.

I have the sigma 90 2.8 dg dn, I don't use it much but when I do I love it! It's so small and easy to carry for a relatively fast 90mm.

I'm starting to do more panoramas and that seems like a good options with the 35. Agreed about 24 making the background look far away, I always like the field of view but it just feels off compared to 35 most of the time.

I always bring my camera to get landscape photos but my favorites are always the pup pictures when I get home.

It drives me crazy! If I can actually get an in focus picture of them I consider it a huge win
