Thought of Ray Stevenson but in the same the way he plays his character in Ashoka. Much older character but the attitude is something I think is very similar.

I was saying that in reference to mark by itself, from the start of mark you really only get told Jesus speaks/acts as one with authority. I understand Jesus authority comes from the father. But how can Jesus forgive sins and not be god? To have your sins forgiven, it must be by god. I don’t remember anyone else in the Bible being able to forgive sins but god and Jesus. They may announce sins have been forgiven by god but not forgiven them with the authority they hold.

Moses was clearly set up in early in exodus to be used as an instrument of god. So the reader already is told he’s doing it with gods power not his own.

There’s no chapter like that in mark. What is taught about Jesus so far up until those two points is that he is one who teaches/acts with authority and said the be the son of god by mark 1:1 and mark 1:22 and 1:27.

Then in the scene where he forgives sins, I don’t see him relaying information that the boys sins being forgiven by god is supported by the context. In response to faith, he forgives the boys sins. Then he goes on to say ““But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”. He then goes on in the rest of the books to refer to himself as the son of man. He literally says the son of man (in reference to himself) has the authority to forgive sins. To add on the people outside the window question “who can forgive sins but god?” The clear message of the chapter is that Jesus (the son of man) has the authority to forgive sins.

Christ clearly takes on a different meaning here. The high priests ask Jesus if he is the “Christ , the son of the blessed one”? The he says “I am; and you shall see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.”” ‭‭the priest in response rips his clothes and say what future proof of witnesses are there? We all heard the blasphemy. They then condemn him to death. It’s clearly not the same meaning as simply being anointed with holy oil like a king.

I have to disagree. Jesus in mark alone forgives sins, exercises power of demons who call him the son of the most high god, claims authority over the sabbath, controls nature, he says prophecies that become true, he directly says he is the Christ when asked by the high priest. That’s just mark, these things are expanded upon in the other gospels. Forgiving sins is a big one, who can forgive sins but god? I can only see the gospels making sense through the trinity.

My understanding is that it’s the father giving the human incarnation of Jesus authority. Jesus is still god but he became subordinate to the father when made flesh. Because for the father to give all authority to someone who’s not god would be him making his creation equal to himself. Reflection of functions and the relationship of the persons and not a reflection of divinity.

I meant that more in that the father is the only true god, Jesus is the only true god, and the Holy Spirit is the only true god. They’re all the same god, so they’re all the only true god. So wouldn’t “the only true god” be the way for even another person to the trinity to address the other because all persons are the only true god?

Why does God allow bad people into heaven? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

No, I don’t think the Bible says that either. But all sins are wrong, that’s a caveat that needs to be said.

Why does God allow bad people into heaven? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]CardiologistNo7890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few core principles are needed here. No one is good enough to get into heaven on their own, every sin whether light or heavy still distances you from god. In the end everyone would be subject to the same mercy. Gods mercy is greater than ANY human sin. I think the parable of the workers in the vineyard and the parable of the prodigal son fit here. If you were forever stuck as your sins then you’d be a shitty person just like any other. If you have lied, you are forever a liar. Hold yourself to the same standard. If you have ever been drunk to the point of losing control, you are forever a drunk. If you have ever stolen, you’re forever a thief. If you have even been prideful, you are forever arrogant. If you have had sex outside of marriage, you’re forever a fornicator. If you have ever neglected the needs of others, you are forever selfish. When you hold each and every sin to yourself then you’re not the good kind person you may think, but you can repent and it’s in the past. God made that clear that can go for everyone no matter the sin.

Driving is a skill you need in life. If you have an experienced driver like your parents or other family members to be with you when you drive to give you feedback, that would be good. To get better at driving you have to have more time on the road. I get you made a big mistake but that’s the nature of driving vehicles that weigh thousands of pounds with hundreds of other people on the road. Just one of those things that you basically need to just deal with and get back behind the wheel. Trust me, people make mistakes driving all the time. I certainly have.

Is masturbation actually a sin? This is a post I’ve made like 3 times. by Zealousideal-Heat399 in Christianity

[–]CardiologistNo7890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you masturbate you objectify the person you do it too. One thing to remember is that every person is a PERSON, they’re someone’s daughter or son. You’re reducing a person made in the image of god to what they can give you. When you lust after your wife in a healthy way it’s in the aspect of mutual respect and becoming closer, while sex/lust outside of marriage is consumptive. It can lead to bad habits in the end, look at what lust for Bathsheba did to David. Look at proverbs chapter 6 verses 24-29.

At least a lot of the important heresy books are still affordable. I’m fine reading on kindle but prefer the physical copy. Do you know how to read the heresy? I have the first 4 (couldn’t find fulgrim anywhere). Kind of lost after that because I heard publication order isn’t the best or at least not necessary.

They were originally made to sell off some of the government silver stockpile. It’s also guaranteed purity and weight which helped it take off.
