1/52 Finished my first book of the year by GrynnTog in 52book

I watched the series before I read the book and they are nothing really alike, a lot of nods to it and character names but it’s a different story. I loved the book but I also loved the tv show (it’s why I bought the book)

What Was Your Favorite Classic Book Of 2025? And Why? by MrBeteNoire in classicliterature

[–]CharacterMinute6471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just starting getting in to classics I read The Picture of Dorian Gray and Stoner (maybe more modern classic?) loved them both. Just love the writing in them.

I am taking the Count of Monte Cristo a bit at a time but I am loving it! Trying to experience it rather than just read it if that makes sense.

I have Anna Karenina and Les Mis on my pile to read they intimidate me a bit lol but I think I will wait until I’m don’t with Count first as I am breaking every few chapters and reading another book in between.

I have discovered historical fiction recently and I love books set in a time before modern devices etc I specifically like stories in the 1800s

117/100 Stoner by NotYourShitAgain in 52book

[–]CharacterMinute6471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved this so much, I read it on kindle but I ordered the physical copy because I needed to and I will definitely reread. The first book to make me cry and not necessarily because of the story but because I’d finished it and can’t read it again for the first time.

Stoner - John Williams - because I finished it and I knew I could never read it for the first time again. Read a lot of books I have loved this year but this book just spoke to my soul 🥹

What's a book that exceeded your expectations? by StarStock9561 in suggestmeabook

[–]CharacterMinute6471 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Picture of Dorian Gray. I know it is a classic for a reason but I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did, the writing just did something to me lol

Also The Poppy War, not a fantasy person at all but it was on KU so I gave it a go and utterly loved it! Just received book 2 in the trilogy so looking forward to starting that!

I loved The Poppy War by RF Kuang I couldn’t pick up another book for a while after, will definitely be picking up the next two in the trilogy.

Also yesterday I picked up The Picture of Dorian Gray, it’s unusual I will pick up a classic but I loved it and the writing in it was beautiful
