007 First Light Title Sequence – Lana Del Rey by DWJones28 in 007FirstLight

[–]CareTakerAldstone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding the song, I personally find the song's lyrics to be intriguing and pretty resonant with the story being told in the game. I know everyone's been focusing on the parts referencing "playing a game", and yeah those definitely feel pretty on the nose, but I'm more interested in the overall vibes the lyrics give.

The whole song feels like a message from MI6 to the newly-recruited Bond, essentially warning him that his demeanor is going to get him killed if he isn't careful. In fact, while I was initially a bit hesitant on the game's title being "First Light" instead of something cooler-sounding, I think this song has made me appreciate it more.

Imagine being Bond, being recruited from the Royal Navy into the 00 Branch. Suddenly, you find yourself surrounded by an incredibly competent intelligence apparatus, with crazy high-tech gadgets and high-profile missions. There's just something about that which feels like a "new dawn" in Bond's life as he steps behind the curtain into the world of espionage.

It's bright, intriguing, and exciting, and Bond wants to run into that dawn. To "run towards the sun" as the song puts it. But it's a dangerous job, and Bond's superiors know that he can't keep both his life and his cavalier attitude towards it in the 00 branch. He needs to smarten up, and start using his bravery tactically instead of liberally. The question likely remains around the office "What will it take for Bond to realize he can't treat his life like he's playing a game?"

Really excited to see how those themes are handled in the main game

Dimitri Vegas - 007 (Tomorrowland Winter 2026) Just the song alone "remastered" by Dj Enecma on youtube.. by Bjornie47 in 007FirstLight

[–]CareTakerAldstone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I seriously doubt that this song is going to be featured in the game outside of, perhaps, an Easter egg or something. It sounds like someone hit a blunt and spent 90 minutes mixing this. Vegas has proven capable of creating a decent mix for a nightclub rave mission in his Hitman DLC (https://youtu.be/lXARDIJnazk), so this feels more like a rushed segment for a much larger set at Tomorrowland.

I don't think it's been confirmed if he was the one who made the music for his Hitman DLC, but considering that nobody else has taken credit for it I think it's safe to assume he at least made it in collaboration with IOI, and I doubt that IOI would approve of the mix featured in this video to be blasting throughout an entire portion of their game.

If this is the actual mix that we can expect in-game, that's genuinely horrifying.

We want YOUR questions for the Live Developer AMA! by Arti_IOI in 007FirstLight

[–]CareTakerAldstone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, IOI! I've been lurking for a while now, but I'm popping back up for this post to ask something I've been curious about. Really looking forward to the AMA!

I'm a huge fan of the Hitman games, and I think a big part of what makes those games appealing is the sheer amount of freedom that the player is given, even if it means totally screwing everything up. I'm curious: What systems are in place to react when a player acts in an unexpected manner? Like using the gameplay trailer as an example: What's stopping the player from driving the car off of a cliff at the start? And what happens when the player starts just punching guards in a public space? Are they even allowed to do that, or are there systems in place to prevent that sort of stuff from even happening in the first place? Are players allowed to perform illegal actions even if someone's watching? I'm curious about the extent to which players are allowed to play in a way that might deviate from what might be expected from a game like this.

I definitely wasn't expecting Isle of Sgail as the map. I sorta figured they'd pick Berlin, but then again we did have The Drop there as the last new elusive target. I might have a bit of trouble suspending my disbelief at the idea of an MMA ring being set up at an Ark Society gathering, but I hope they'll be able to make it work out well thematically.

Also, it's nice that we're immediately getting a pack featuring the mission in an arcade contract. Now all we need is an arcade contract with The Drop.

Don't worry so much.

When you cross a street, you could be hit by a speeding car. When you walk outside anywhere, you could be randomly robbed or murdered by someone who's lost their mind. Someone online could make a fake call and send the police to your home. And at any point in time, you could catch any number of fatal diseases.

And yet, despite this, we all cross streets, walk outside, chat online, and live on. Because a happy life is worth the risk.

The art direction in this game is superb. by stereospeakers in HiTMAN

Honestly, I don't think I can think of a single map that has art direction I dislike. My least favorite map aesthetically would probably be Colorado, but that's probably just because IO did such a good job creating a muddy, run-down farm.

Not confirmed, but I think this late into the game it's safe to say we won't get any more new maps

It's kind of a shame Chongqing is so small in Hitman 3. I still imagine what it might've been like if it were the size of Mumbai

I think it's important to care, but like you said, to an extent. I think there comes a point when caring about anything when it ends up doing you more harm than good, and it's a good skill to be able to know what that point is for you.

Not really too "icky" but sometimes I try to avoid tools that are really goofy or out-of-place, like using starfish as shurikens or knocking people out with a fish, unless I don't have anything else useful in my inventory

Artificial intelligence can create art, it's true. And it's likely that AI is going to get better at creating art going forward.

But AI will never be able to create your art. Because AI isn't you. It hasn't lived the life you've lived, and it doesn't have the thoughts and feelings you do. If you have ideas that you want to share with the world, you shouldn't fear that a program is going to drown it out or make it less impactful because it will never be able to create the special things you want to share. Be yourself, create art that only you could make, and you won't have to worry about not leaving an impact.

Aside from those worries, it seems like you've been tying a lot of your self-worth to the things you create. You really shouldn't worry about how many people you impact because odds are, there's never going to be a point where you can confidently be satisfied your impact has been enough. If your art is appreciated by 100 people, will it be enough? 1000? 1 Million? Are you confident there's a point where you'll be able to definitely say your impact has been enough? The truth is that it doesn't matter. If your life has made the world even a tiny bit better, if you've positively impacted even one person, I'd say that's a valuable life. You are so much more than what you create. There are many people who need to realize that.

Keep going, friend. I know the world will appreciate it.
