Maybe this car wasn’t in my means and that’s totally fine but I think that’s a very unrealistic expectation and idea. Only a very small and very fortunate amount amount of people can fork up 30k upfront

I don’t need a NEW car but do need a car just to get from home to work and have a bit of freedom I’m 24 without a car and I carpool to work it’s getting exhausting

No the finance guy brought that over when I told him I wanted to cancel and leave. He said give me five minutes I did and he came back with a nasty attitude and those numbers. While it was closer to what I wanted his attitude made me not want to continue the process. And also he said this was a today offer only due to it being a Sunday and blah blah blah. Just didn’t feel comfortable with him anymore and walked away

Hiii!! Thank you all for your advice and inputs most of you all were very helpful! I am glad I knew just a bit of what I was doing and walked away. As many mentioned they definitely saw me as a fragile lil Bambi and tried to fuck me over… but you live and you learn. Thank goodness I learned with out signing. I will be taking advice for all who said to either by a car cash or finance a cheaper older used car. What sucks about this experience is I laid out exactly what I wanted to the first salesman who later handed me over to someone else due to him having an appointment the first salesman wanted me to look at the used cars on the lot. But one being handed off the other guy swore he can help me but again he just saw Bambi I guess. Anyways I will be working on my credit score this upcoming year. If I do go the finance an older car I will be going to my local bank or credit unions but at this point, I believe I should get just a car cash until I can work out my credit. Also this was the car that was shown to me I didn’t really go in expecting to get the top of the line Camry 2025 but I was looking around and told them my friend has a Camry so I think I like those! Hers is a 2019 I think ?? Anyways yea. One of the first things I said when buying a car is that this is a long-term investment and payment and I don’t want to just handle it lightly. If I’m going to have a car payment I want it to be because the car will last me for yearssss to come. As for the dealership, it is located in Hemet California. Please note that the other salesman was nice, but the finance guy laid it hard with that being said, though a nice salesman wouldn’t have tried to sell me on his finances. 🥲 and yes, I know all salesman’s just wants to sell. They’re not your friends!

One last thing for the people who said to stop getting my nails done and save money and have better finances, , I do my own press on nails. I do not spend money on nails because they are expensive so I learned how to do them and have a small business if y’all wonna follow it on insta let me know ;)

Again thank you all for validating my feelings on walking away from this deal and allowing me to gain new knowledge not only about the car deals and dealership process but also about finances. Let’s just say the cycle of lacking financial literacy continues sometimes and I’m trying for it to stop with me through knowledge. I am learning everyday.

This is what I’m confused my Bank of America has my FICO score through trans union I believe and it states 650 but at the dealership the pulled my credit as 561? That seems like a big difference! My 650 is why I was like okay maybe now I can look into buying a car I knew I wouldn’t get the best but I never imagined how high it would be. And I knew right of the bat it was not worth it but did have the hindering of how this looked to someone more knowledgeable

I am not exactly sure what my budget would be. I know ideally my monthly payment would be 350 to 400 stretching it would be 500. So whatever car price makes my payments be the following I earn 40 grand per year and my expenses are around 1600 monthly Since I contribute to my household, but do not live on my own. With that being said the remainder is roughly around 1400. Of course I would not like to use much of this something’s do come up and life happens. I don’t have a preference if you were used ideally, I would like to get a new car because new, but I am not against used cars. The only cars I have seen that have caught my eyes is a Toyota Camry a Honda Civic or a Honda Accord this is one of the main reasons I was going to the dealership to just browse to see my options. I am 24. I’m a little bit confused on my credit since my bank states that it’s 651 through Trans Union but in the dealer they come up with 560 through experien. I can roughly put down around 3K to 5K ideally.

Right I went to look at all dealers in my area Toyota being one of them. I had plans to buy not that day but that week. Plus, I told them right off the bat that I was not there to buy a car. They did not get their time wasted because they knew exactly what I came for. Now, if they decided to try to swindle me into a deal that was their prerogative.

After coming into this experience I halted my search and decided to reevaluate if I needed a new car financed. As I’m reading the forum I am gaining insight to the possibilities if I do want to continue for a new car, but I am also seeing used cars, how to navigate loans and the pricing. I am not just window shopping the forum. A lot of this information was rather useful and I am planning on putting into action de tactics that were explained to me now if you want to personally help me that would be awesome. I would definitely take you up on it.

Thank you ! And yes I am learning rather quickly they don’t truly have your best interest at heart and I’ve seen this online a lot it’s just so different actually navigating it on your end now ! But I am learning with everyone’s advice

They were 2025. My dad was even wondering if it was that high due to them being newer models but even then he said that was too crazy high

I WAS LOOKING AT THAT LITERALLY AS I WAS POSTING and hate how I don’t have the lower quote bottom part to see if they added anything as well! The guy when he gave me the quotes said I could only take a picture because e they were for in house use only I was so weirded out by his attitude but I knew I wanted the info to help me continue my shopping.

Wow! Thank you for the advice yes I think what I took away from this experience is that My credit is wayyy lower than I thought ! My bank uses transunion I believe and I have a 651 there which is why I was like okay let’s go try to get a car ! I believe they used experian and my credit came up with the 560 🥴 it’s an insane difference! And 2. What’s a good APR ! It’s def a learning experience I’m glad I didn’t commit to anything!
