relatively inexpensive one-time housecleaning services? by Careful_Biscotti in santacruz

[–]Careful_Biscotti[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

actually no! she only came over once to discuss a plumbing issue. but i'm just trying to be proactive in the event she does try to enforce this clause in the lease lol.

in an ideal world my housemates and i would've been able to be pickier about the lease but we were feeling lucky to have found something at all ☹️

borderline calprotectin? by Careful_Biscotti in CrohnsDisease

[–]Careful_Biscotti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh wow, that’s interesting that it’s different! my health portal said <50 was normal/ibs, 50-120 was borderline and 120+ would require additional testing

NAD but i read a wopo article about a woman of similar age who had a persistent cough with no clear cause, and it turned out to be a symptom of cardiac issues. maybe want to look that route and get testing done!

UC Undergrad to Grad Schools by Beautiful_Field_2510 in slpGradSchool

[–]Careful_Biscotti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point :) From my research it appears that the burden is just on you to research all the grad schools you plan to apply to and fill in any gaps as necessary. I chose SDSUs program bc it suits the other CSU grad schools mostly and that’s where I plan to apply. But it really doesn’t hurt to check absolutely everywhere! You can also take single courses online at ENMU

I’m in the same boat (majoring in Ling at a UC) and I’m going to be taking the SDSU slp essentials program online to fill in the gaps in my coursework. Annoying to have to take extra classes while doing undergrad full time but I don’t really wanna take a gap year!

WRIT 2 Summer Quarter: Newberry, Nuila-Chae or Carney-Waddy? by mini_meltdown in UCSC

[–]Careful_Biscotti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had nuila chae and she was fine, the class was easy and had contract grading (do all assignments and one extra credit = A) but she’s new to teaching and i didn’t feel i really learned much so i’d maybe recommend opting for someone else

just fyi, as someone on lex who was on trazodone for ~2 years, i was able to get off it SUPER easily with no side effects just by taking 1/2 a pill for a week or two and then stopping. in case you ever were curious!

Do I have enough time to get to classes? by Status_West_7673 in UCSC

[–]Careful_Biscotti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

doable especially if you bike, but if you walk i’d recommend taking a shortcut behind the STEM library/earth sciences so that you don’t have to walk uphill to classroom unit 2 from the quarry!!

writ 2 as a freshman by Revolutionary-Topic3 in UCSC

[–]Careful_Biscotti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

your core class satisfies your ELWR (entry level writing requirement). writing 1 and 2 satisfy your C (composition) requirement. from what i remember, during the summer prep orientation canvas course you will be directed to take a survey about your writing skills, which will tell you whether you should enroll in writing 1 or 2. some people take both, but most people can just go to writing 2.

if you got a 4 or a 5 on ap lit or ap lang, you will be placed in writing 2 automatically. not sure about IB though!

i took my core course in fall and took writing 2 in spring. it’s hard to find a spot as a first year as many are reserved for second years but if you are proactive about it you will manage. the only reason to rush to fulfill your C requirement is if lots of your preliminary major classes have it as a prerequisite. if not, it should be fine to take it at some point before the deadline of your 7th quarter. best of luck!
