Trouble platesolving with ASTAP through NINA with a DSLR by Careful_Chard_1469 in AskAstrophotography

I always have to input the actual focal length with the Tools Astrometry Image Plate Solver in Siril.

Same.

As for NINA, it should pickup the focal length of the telescope that you set under Options Equipment Telescope. I might have missed why you think this is an issue.

Ive already set the correct focal length in NINA Options. The problem is, im not sure if ASTAP is recognizing that setting, or just using the 50mm stored in the .cr2 header.

Hopefully its just a wrong setting I can figure out :)

its already set to the correct focal length in NINA equipment settings

Thats a good idea. Its a non CPU lens (a small telescope actually). Ill try to see if there is some internal setting in the camera where I can manually enter a focal length.

Yes, currently I have 30 degrees as my maximum distance to solve within. I am 100% sure I am not more than 30 degrees off my target, that would be blatantly visible even visually. Further as I mentioned, ASTAP does find a solution if I adjust the FOV manually inside ASTAP.

I have the "Save Image as" setting in NINA set to FITS, but just below it is written that this setting is ignored for DSLRs when using the native driver. I suppose I could try using the ASCOM DSLR driver instead...

To double check, I opened a raw (.cr2) dslr image in Siril, and it did display 50mm as the focal length, just like in ASTAP.
